His films initially - Insomnia Memento Batman begins The prestige TDK all had good character development. His later films like Inception Tenet Interstellar are more about the story where he just throws in cliche characters

Harry Osborn death scene in SM3 hits harder than Starks death scene in Endgame

especially since life moves on for the rest of the MCU as new films are made where Harry's death is the climax for the OG trilogy and the entire trilogy ends so somberly.

rewatched it a couple months ago and actually teared up. SM3 aged pretty well I think.

Girlboss aged supremely well and was one of Netflix's best ever original series. That s*** deserved at least another season

Shiiit uncle Ben's death in the first one hit harder than Stark's death lol

Stark dropped the Hulk on that city and hurt all those black people so when he died I was like good riddance

A Cure For Wellness is an excellent movie

  • Dwayne Johnson is a better actor than he’s given credit for. He will get a dramatic role and be Oscar nominated in his later years

bruh i wanted to love this SO bad based off the trailer and i think it looks very good but it's just boring and too long. Me and some friends finished the film and we were like uh yeah what was the point of all this? It was supposed to be an interesting mystery but it just was so bland and forgettable besides the cinematography

Like a retar ded version of Shutter Island (which i actually like a lot)

i f***s with bro but i noticed that he and i don't really share the same taste. I think a lot of films that i consider 10/10 he would probs call pretentious or boring

at least he recognizes BR2049 to be one of the greatest sci-fi films OAT

For some reason this has always been bottom tier Nolan for me

still a great film but not among the Nolan films that i would consider the best

i've noticed many feel like it's their fav though

I feel like people like Nolan for different reasons. Before Nolan became fascinated in creating spectacles he actually made, great written movies.

Prestige and Memento would be an example of this.

But as he got more trust from the studios he was able to put more money into his films and then they became spectacles rather than being cleverly written.

Nolan is always a weird director for me. He consistently makes great films, i don't really consider any of his films below a 7/10 and he even has some classics in their respective genres imo but i don't necessarily think of him as one of my favorite directors

Every other director that would even have half as many films out as him that i would love as much would be up there for me among my fav directors

    For some reason Nolan isn't

It drives me crazy bc i can't think of a reason why lmao

Like there's a lot of directors out there that made a couple films that i don't like nearly as much as most of Nolans work and i still would rank them higher than Nolan

    anybody feels the same?

I kind of get what you're trying to say and I agree.

Not sure if I can word it better though lol.

I think it might have to do with creating a spectacle that you experience or creating a piece of art that you can appreciate. At the end of the day the piece of art carries more weight.

  • Feb 4, 2021

I think that's why Nolan is so adamant on his movies being in the theater because it adds to the experience he is trying to create.

Yeah idk man i couldn't even explain it myself but you might be on to something here

I guess there's filmmakers out there that have a miss once in a while but the ones i consider personal classics mean a lot more to me than my fav Nolan films that i would also consider personal classics

Like you said, just cause they hit home more as a piece of art rather than a couple hours of visual spectacle/entertainment
