the john wick series has been getting progressively weaker the more it has gone on
how
they trying too hard to make us care about the john wick world/lore
we also need to bring back squibs. that digital blood s*** looks so weak lmao
I honestly think that when writers focus too much on the lore, the writing suffers in a weird way. Severance Season 2 is a good example but I'm biased because I can't stand cult storylines for the most part

it also doesn't work when the characters themselves have little depth and aren't very interesting. most of the people watching john wick films are for the action
however i even had problems with the action sequences by john wick 4, besides the s***ty looking digital blood. there were some action sequences that i really liked, like the top-down angle gun fight or the nightclub scenes with Scott Adkins, but then there are sequences like the japanese hotel scene where the action is not only not that impressive, it also goes on far too long.
Matt Reeves' Batman runs too long, has pacing issues and the third act is a colossal mess.
first thing i see in an unpopular opinions thread is a popular opinion

Literally like half the movie is just people arguing over which italian name is “the rat”
Massively overrated
Ghost in the Shell 1995 is...eh
it's nice to look at and well animated but its philosophical themes don't do much for me. prob due to how distanced everything is.

but you see some of it playing out in 2026
