Christopher Nolan is a glorified Michael bay
bit of a reach here. Although i see why you would say this
dude literally tries to calm down on how often he drinks.
actively makes adjustments on how he communicates with loved ones & etc.
huh?
he even thinks exposing himself would make him take accountability.
It’s not like he’s not trying at all, he just doesn’t have the proper tools to heal
Yeah but they try to talk to him and he shuts them out. Diane tried to talk to him about his mom multiple times and he shuts her out. He goes to therapy like once and then stops going. He tells Hollyhock he doesn't really need the pills then proceeds to get more pills. It's like at the beginning of the season they try to show how alone he is, then when he has people around him to support him, he pushes them away.
I thought he'd know how self destructive he is especially after season 3 and that he can't fix it on his own but I guess not

Yeah it’s because he’s aware of how self destructive he is and that he’s having such a hard time healing since his mother’s death impacted him far worse afterward
Knowing his history with other people, he’s actively distancing himself to try to manage these relationships as they are but in that process still actively hurting them through those actions.
He lies to hollyhock about how much he needs the pills and loopholes himself into a accident to get more.
That’s why Diane taking him to rehabilitation was the necessary ending to Season 5 as well.
Someone needed to actively encourage and somewhat force him into that place, he wasn’t getting better at all. He didn’t have the tools to.
imagine saying Denzel isn't that good with the filmography he has. stfu
I'm sayin, lol

I don't think he was aware because if he was I think he would've not done certain things but idk

Sorry to jump in but I, like emery, love Bojack Horseman lol
The beauty in Bojack’s missteps later in the show (imo) is how perfectly they paint the ‘life is a f***ing rollercoaster’ cliche.
In realizing his own appetite for self destruction, we see Bojack start to turn a corner in life. But we all know that life isn’t as simple as ‘I want, therefore I will.’ Sometimes things happen that set you back to 0 (death of his mother, accident on set that led him to opioid dependence+addiction etc) and we have no control over that as humans. We just take the punches and try to get back on our path and keep moving forward.
Even in Bojack taking a step back from his close friends to spare them of his toxicity (positive), he’s also doing himself a disservice by alienating his support system(negative). It’s this ongoing balance that makes the show truly special and relatable for me.
It’s 100% depression p*** in a way, but only because it’s so gruelingly accurate with its depictions of the human struggle.
yeah ANH is average and rotj is pretty meh as well
imagine we got revenge of the jedi spaghetti western version with a dead han solo and luke walking into the sunset
instead we got a film made to sell ewok toys
I hate that with all the star wars trilogies i just imagine better stories for them quite sad honestly

At this point we just gon be talking in circles, so imma just say, damn that's crazy.

this is facts
a lesser show would have probably tried to have BoJack follow a trajectory of him actually changing in SZN 5 all on his own in a unnatural way just because of his positive experiences in SZN 4.
but SZN 5 shows the uncomfortable truth of how much hard work it truly is to genuinely change.
At this point we just gon be talking in circles, so imma just say, damn that's crazy.
We’ll just agree to heavy disagree.
Sorry i’m passionate about the show lol
Just felt like Moonlight was overrated.
One of those movies that get a LOT of f***ing acclaim but don't go anywhere.
Toward the end i was like
then
We’ll just agree to heavy disagree.

Nah it's cool man, I remember you were the OP of the BoJack thread so I'm not surprised lol.
It's still a really good show overall, with season 3 being my favorite.

That’s something we can agree on. SZN 3 GOAT

implying Bay is a bad director and like Nolan hasn’t claimed him as an influence.

I’m saying like they both make the same type of big blockbuster movies that rely on the plot instead of character development just Nolan does it with a little more taste and we keep acting like Nolan is a top director when he really isn’t just because we grew up watching his movies that made us feel like we’re watching cinema
Denzel isn’t that good.
His best roles are in front of him still he needs to pick up some goat older man roles to solidify himself even more
I hate that with all the star wars trilogies i just imagine better stories for them quite sad honestly
Rich universe full of mediocre stories.

His films initially - Insomnia Memento Batman begins The prestige TDK all had good character development. His later films like Inception Tenet Interstellar are more about the story where he just throws in cliche characters
Entire star wars original trilogy some ass
It was a chore to watch for me. I got the Lord of the rings franchise ready to watch and I really hope it's not like that seeing how long these films are

Nah, LOTR are much better movies
