People forget that rapping is way cooler than streaming lmao
    Not just about the money
Being infront of a camera for hours reacting to s*** will never feel cool bc its the opposite of being effortless

I could see streamers as new tastemakers or variety show hosts fs. Reaction channels are basically MTV. That’s as far as I can go atm tho.

Songs live forever but idk about streams.
Plus the money talk feels inaccurate. Wiz Khalifa can do a couple shows and make what they make in a 30 day subathon I’m pretty sure.

Kai Cenat and Speed only really reached this notoriety and fame in the last year or so, only been streaming what 5 years? Aforementioned rappers had to be 10+ years in the game to get those bags. It’s not comparable.

Kai had a YouTube channel in 2018 tho, Speed in 2016. Both started streaming in 2021, Speed was a millionaire within a year of streaming. Agent was doing YouTube videos since the early 10s, started full time streaming in 2017

Money is still quicker than rap but the most successful streamers also put in work before streaming and the success isn't as instant as it may seem

Streaming is just reality TV for the young niggas

feel like streaming just needs wayyyyy more time input for success so nah and this comparison is terrible to begin with

culturally this is true, streaming has done huge damage to musicians culturally

  • Content is the worst term of the 21st century

  • Streamers are such corny People with The most socially awkward personalities but unfortunately that's exactly what the younger gen is

People disagreeing with me itt are proving my point

    They're out of touch

  • Iron Lion Zion

Most of those rappers would fail, you need hella personality to build a good base as a streamer

But a lot of these popular streamers dont have personality to me at all. I think streamers can get big with dumb clout chasing viral stunts just like the upcoming rappers from the soundcloud era for example

  • Iron Lion Zion

Not really. Look at someone like xqc. He signed a deal for 100 m's and dude has no personality from what I've seen of him

Tyler 100000% would’ve been a streamer in this era. OF basically had a show that was almost the same premise of a Kai type skit. I’m older so it’s certainly not for me but these are kids trying to innovate just like his (and my) age bracket did. Only s*** I don’t condone is stupid illegal or predatory type content otherwise just let them be them

I see the comparison but I tend to disagree. Tyler was in a lot of senses a true rebel to what was going on. If young Tyler found out mfs were sitting in their basements watching other people sit in their basements on stream…I’ll let you figure out the rest lol. The edgy tweet about it practically writes itself

Feel like he’d be more of a pioneer than a follower though from my perspective. They were pushing a lot of boundaries and I wouldn’t have been surprised to see them get in on this type of content early. I mean hell they were doing vines and s*** too

I see where you’re coming from. I just can’t get away from the feeling that Tyler would think (and probably does currently think) that these streamers getting put on a pedestal and are the new stars for doing nothing as musicians and artists are devalued is corny and lame. And that the whole sitting in a basement talking to people online thing as a career to be a celebrity is f***ing stupid. That’s not to say he might not have utilized the technology and dabbled in it but I think he would’ve hated streamers as a concept and I think he probably thinks the culture is weird today but just has to play along now

I think he would’ve said “stab ishowspeed in his god damn esophagus” or some s***. Or a tweet like “WTF IS STREAMING
YOURE SITTING IN A F***ING BASEMENT HAHAHAHA WHY ARE YOU WATCHING SOMEONE ELSE PLAY A GAME YOU GOOBER GOOF F***”.

He would’ve tried to put his own hipster spin on it but he 100% would’ve been calling guys like Kai Cenat and Speed the F word while hating on the NBA 2k community type streamers heavy
