Cmon bro. She knew exactly who her enemy was.

She loved being in control over her enemy. Once she got caught and lost control, that’s why her “pussy don’t pop for you” anymore came about.

You’re taking my response out of context, I replied to someone who was saying it was messy she hooked up with this white supremacist with a gross fetish but those things are revealed later after she has a baby. He seemed like a wild card at first, after those initial things I was thinking he would flip to join the 45 because of his love of teyana or something.

    Oh.my.fucking.god

A white supremacist having a black women fetish doesn't equal the movie having a black women fetish, holy s***

This reminds me when people were calling Phantom Thread "misogynistic" because the main character is a misogynist... like where tf is y'all media literacy

it wasn't about the white supremacist's fetish but clearly you aren't looking too deep into things. The critique about fetishism wasn't towards that specific character sexualizing Black women, it's about the director himself doing it.

but you're coming from a place where all cultural pushback is twitter talk so you're not even trying to understand why people are conflicted by some of it's weird messaging.

If this was about purity politics then I'd be trashing the film and calling for a boycott but nobody's doing that. Most people loved the movie, even it's harshest critics seem to love it and if people wanted to cancel PTA or trash OBAA it'd be for it's strong connections to Isreal or him not giving a f*** about homeless people during the making of it but we're not talking about that. We're talking about actual things that we can take away from the movie itself.

It is a messy film and regardless of what it's intentions are films like OBAA are meant to spark a conversation.

You’re doing that annoying thing people do where you’re taking the info we got about his character later and acting like we were supposed to know that in the first scene, my gf always does that. “Oh I always knew he was the killer” type s***

He’s literally some random shmuck, the Christmas scene is when we learn his true evil, and the grocery store scene is when we learn he’s disgusting. We know basically nothing about him truly beforehand.

So this dude in the opening scene got a bunch of Mexicans locked up in a cage, and somehow you didn’t believe he was racist?

Bro every soldier isn’t a part of a secret white supremacist group, soldiers don’t even decide what they do, they’re just assigned to some immigration camp. As far as I knew maybe he was gonna realize his was group was evil and flip and join the 45, I thought he was a wild card at first. You’re taking data from later scenes and applying them to the start which isn’t how a viewing experience goes.

You don’t need to belong to a secret group to be a white
    Supremacist or racist…

She willingly f***ed a dude who was hoarding innocent mexicans in a cage. Literally. Did you miss the part where he said his name and his ranking? He wasn’t just “some soldier”. That’s YOUR fault if the data wasn’t clear at the start cus they quite literally told us.

Lockjaw doesn't even believe in anything. He just thinks that he should believe in power. He's racist because that's what he thinks he needs to be in order to accumulate more power. And, for better or worse, Perfidia is a powerful force. He says as much when Willa calls her a rat. It catches us off guard that he defends her in that moment. But, it makes sense that he'd respect that aspect of her, cause he truly doesn't give a f*** about what the battles are being fought over. But, this quest for power is just a smokescreen for what he truly desires. He wants someone to overpower him. In his twisted mind, he sees Perfidia as the Batman to his Joker. And, that's why he likes getting pegged.

Quite literally, and I mean LITERALLY in that first scene I said to myself “why is she flirting with this racist ass dude???”

So no, we didn’t need “later data” to know what was going on.

Yeah you totally knew everything about lockjaw from the first few seconds, I’m so sorry I’m not a genius like you, to me he seemed like a wild card that maybe teyana was gonna flip or something

What’s even the point of film discussion if you’re going to be a pretentious a****** to everyone who has a different point of view than you?

I do think theres a lot there to Teyana's character and the discourse is valid. If the film just had a black fetishist white supremacist it would be a lot cleaner (not in a good or interesting way). the fact Teyana engages sexually with him is so messy, layered, icky and interesting from a writing perspective that i'm not surprised theres a lot of people talking about it.

...you just contradicted yourself in the same post

might need a rewatch soon too

I know PTA doesn't do director's cut but I kinda want one for this. I'm sure there were more scenes with Deandra, Will and the revolutionary nuns that were just cut out for pacing. I wanted to see more of that and Junglepussy playing herself lol

There's a confirmed deleted scene of a food fight between the nuns and Willa

    wheres the contradiction

You saying yourself that all of these is what make the character complex, flawed, layered... there's no "problematic representation" she is just not a safely written morally pitch-perfect person
