I thought this s*** was hilarious I wont lie
It was definitely humorous don’t get me wrong, but this nigga had the loudest laugh I’ve ever heard in my life. Like I literally couldn’t hear the next five seconds of dialogue every time he laughed. And he was laughing at s*** that wasn’t even supposed to be a joke, like a character walking into the scene or making a certain face
Feels like this could be Wolf of Wall Street for leftists where the depiction of the revolutionaries turns out to be interpreted as much more aspirational than what is maybe intended. I don't think the film is very kind in what it has to say about an organization like the French 75\. I think Sensei's revolution that prioritizes protecting the marginalized and community is what the film really holds in high regard.
My only problem with it
Lockjaw's conclusion. The scene of him walking down the road all fked up would have been the perfect closure, but that whole scene at the C\*\*\*building felt like WB obligued PTA to put a "satisfying villain death" resolution that felt so unlike PTA and especially anti-Pynchon
That scene was so funny tho
Seeing this in Dolby, concerned about the sound after reading the thread lmao
S*** is going to be explosive
yeah once ppl watch the movie they’ll understand why the marketing for it was so awkward & dogshit. it’s literally impossible in our current era for a studio as big as the Warner Bros to properly market a movie that essentially calls for a violent leftist uprising
Dude even more than the political s*** just the scene alone of sean penn looking at teyana through the binoculars (you guys know what I’m part I’m referring to 😂) lowkey made my jaw drop like nah this nigga pta is really taking it THERE? okay lmao

I saw it in Dolby and it is LOUD in a great way
glad I did the picture looked great too (since I can’t get vista or 70mm)
The chase scene with those hills was ingenious
how she played it too was chefs kiss
how do we feel about Bob not getting a Hero moment in the third act? he doesn't do anything to help his daughter.
my take is that he’s the one who prepared her for this. So Willa making it out without him totally works (he was close to being helpful!)
"I always liked the structure of Les Misérables. You have a wild and crazy first act, and then you settle into the story, and you must pick up the pieces of the wreckage or you must reckon with the choices you made in the first act. This is a very good dramatic structure."
Thought a lot about this quote from PTA during last night's viewing. That first act really just gets better with repeat watches. Feels like it could be a complete short film that stands up on its own merits. Teyana masterclass.

This movie really does nail the exact right balance of menacing and utterly pathetic that these f***ing guys actually are. Like yeah the imperial boot can f*** you up but do not confuse that fear for respect because these people are, at their core, utter losers who want a s***ty corner office
the funniest s\*\*\* was when he was calling for the rendezvous point
8:15
imagine being Willa and your dad is some stoner alcoholic who spews psycho paranoia s\*\*\* all your life just for it to be true

Good
I think it's hilarious, he literally fails at everything he does in the film and that's actually wild for a main character played by the biggest movie star in the world; is such a bold, subversive choice
Disco Elysium ass protagonist.
We need more relatable pathetic main characters who fail at almost every given moment, but are sincere and have heart.
I can definitely see the point of comparisons with Fury Road and M:I Fallout; this is one of those films that as you’re watching it you’re thinking “I can’t believe this movie actually exists.”.

When the movie takes that second detour to the CACs after the incredible Latino Harriett Tubman Baktan Cross sequence I'm just sitting in my seat thinking "wtf am I watching..." in the best way possible
Please me give your unspoiled review. Can’t wait to watch this
There will be blood is my all time fav, don’t know if it will top it.

I don’t think the movie calls for that
