The one thing I didn’t understand about Lockjaw was why did he even want to be part of the elite whites?? Was it purely to feel superior like they said?? Like genuinely who were they and what was the great honour of joining them when he clearly didn’t agree with the s\*\*\* they did? Was it kind of an in-joke that all they’d do is give him an office and they actually DONT do anything special?? But then why the racism??
It reminded me a lot of Mark Zuckerberg's obsession in The Social Network to get in that college "final club", is the same motivation: they both feel that it gives them status "they're exclusive. And they lead to a better life"
The MUSIC, the acting, the writing, the imagery, the energy…
Bruh this is what filmmaking is all about
Feels like this could be Wolf of Wall Street for leftists where the depiction of the revolutionaries turns out to be interpreted as much more aspirational than what is maybe intended. I don't think the film is very kind in what it has to say about an organization like the French 75\. I think Sensei's revolution that prioritizes protecting the marginalized and community is what the film really holds in high regard.
i see your point, i do think there is a big difference tho. The pop and sugar of WoW is the bad behavior. Here the opening f75 stuff while good is brief and instantly has ramifications that color the movie. A film about perfidia may be a closer comp. The Eddie Van Halen scene and to a lesser extent perfidia are clearly depicted as crisis actors and the hospital scene shows on the ground revolutionary action. Plus this movie is much more didactic than WoW, I think if it was leftist heat w ambiguous morality it would be a lot easier to sell
why is nobody talking about Dijon, he is such a natural performer
He was fantastic in the little screen time he had, wish he had a few more scenes. Man was rlly involved in AOTY and FOTY damn
I was mixed positive on this but damn I’m loving it more and more I got a destination wedding this weekend otherwise I’d be running the theater up we gotta support this!
so did teyana taylors character die?
because of the letter being written from what seemed to be living a life in hiding without her family, I read it as she’s still out there somewhere

He was so great. Also we have to acknowledge how f***ing hilarious it is that PTA used Jungle P****s IRL stage name.

"I had to save a French 75er twice in one day" or whatever the exact quote was says it all imo
Sean Penn is for sure getting the supporting actor push and deservedly so but it's hard to overstate just how good Benicio del Toro was in this
I’m seeing the new Park Chan-Wook tonight w/ my wife who didn’t see OBAA with me last night and I’m lowkey like F*** I just wanna watch this with her / see this again 😂

And PTA did say that del Toro was the one who suggested a lot of the stuff his character ended up doing, such as the underground railroad and having connections with the lawyer and the nurse which makes his performance even cooler

Haven’t seen a character that I so desperately want to hang out with than him in a long time.
Crazy timing.... Teyana's character made me think about Assata a lot last night. Had to be inspired by her
Omg something I just remembered that I was mega confused / impressed by lmao leo falling from the building????? It happened, and I was like holy s\*\*\*! And then braced myself for a cut— assuming it was a stunt double…. But then the scene keeps rolling super seamlessly and Leo enters the light lmao?? How the f\*\*\* did they get that shot?
Man I like the stuff coming out of the Asters and Lanthimoses, Eggers, Creggers, Peeles, and some others in this new crop of Hollywood directors
But the old guard legend PTA just dropped the full weight of his nutsack all over the industry with this one. Just a higher level of filmmaking

Mexican hairless
I saw it in Dolby and it is LOUD in a great way

I was incorrect! And am seeing this in laser :(
