The one thing I didn’t understand about Lockjaw was why did he even want to be part of the elite whites?? Was it purely to feel superior like they said?? Like genuinely who were they and what was the great honour of joining them when he clearly didn’t agree with the s\*\*\* they did? Was it kind of an in-joke that all they’d do is give him an office and they actually DONT do anything special?? But then why the racism??
I genuinely can’t believe the clip that this thing moves at for such a long movie, the energy is so consistent and kinetic the whole way through PTA is really that guy
I left the cinema feeling like Bob scatter brained as s*** not knowing where I was

Yeah great pacing, basically no dull moments

lockjaw *was* racist, and didn’t at all disagree with the Nazi old mans club. His thing with Black women was a racially charged fetish for sure, but that doesn’t at all mean that he respects Black women or believes they should be held as equals. He claims he was in love with her, but he was also prepared to have her living a life he was in complete control of. He didn’t love her in the normal sense of love. He maybe thinks he did because he’s a f\*\*\*ing psycho, but he loved the idea of controlling and having this Black women in the palm of his hands that couldn’t escape him that he could sexually exploit forever
Movie is good, but must say also very Letterboxd coded
I mean come on wtf does this s*** mean lmao
anyone else get jumpscared by the gunshots in this movie? S*** was f***ing loud

You know exactly what it means lol

Ayo this s*** terrified me purely cause I’ve been dealing with inner ear trauma & tinnitus from a car accident a few weeks ago. Legit almost walked out cause I was worried the loud ass gunshots were gonna cause my sensitivity to flare up to dangerous levels but I stuck through when I realized we had a PTA masterpiece on our hands 🫡
On another note how the f*** did warner bros approve this movie lmao I thought ari was pushing the limits of what lines to cross on a big hollywood movie with eddington but this is a different level of scumbaggery on screen 😂

yeah once ppl watch the movie they’ll understand why the marketing for it was so awkward & dogshit. it’s literally impossible in our current era for a studio as big as the Warner Bros to properly market a movie that essentially calls for a violent leftist uprising

Loudest film I've ever seen on imax it was bordering on unwatchable
Maybe they f***ed up the settings in my theater but it was excruciating at times

this happened w tenet for me
s*** was suuuuch a terrible mix
geniunely uncomfortable
My only problem with it
Lockjaw's conclusion. The scene of him walking down the road all fked up would have been the perfect closure, but that whole scene at the C\*\*\*building felt like WB obligued PTA to put a "satisfying villain death" resolution that felt so unlike PTA and especially anti-Pynchon
I hear what you’re saying but them going full Duchau with it was pretty f\*\*\*ing pointed and disturbed

wasn’t a problem with me, they prob had your s*** on 11

It's interesting to me that the only time the revolutionaries are depicted committing any actual violence is Teyana shooting the bank security guard. And that was clearly not the plan based on how shocked and frightened Junglepussy looks when it happens. The rest of the time they're just tying people up or blowing up empty buildings and utilities.
how do we feel about Bob not getting a Hero moment in the third act? he doesn't do anything to help his daughter.
his hero moment is being a refuge for Willa to trust, I think if he was sleeper agent bob it wouldn’t work. Him being her well meaning but f\*\*\* up dad is what he needs to be for her, she’s capable enough.
