dont abandon machines. Find a good mix between machines and free weights
but fr i feel like machines dont work your stabalizer muscles enough
i mean, it depends how you look it.
if you do an exercise where rear delts for instance are your stabilizer muscles, thats when machines are goated, because you can develop it by doing isolation movements. However, that won't necessarily aid you trying to progressively overload on a compound exercise

I'll stick to free weights for now until I see the need again for machines. I feel like i was doing machines wrong all the time if for exemple I was at 95 kg 10x3 on the row machines but cant do 10 pull ups. Either i was cheating all the time or something else i dont know. Free weights/ Body Weight exercises are what i do now. I felt far more tension going with body weight dips or pull ups than chest/row machines.

machine rows or any back exercises dont really transfer to pullups.
If u wanna get good at pullups, you gotta do pullups and progressively overload with them aswell, like using a belt with weight
