why are they asking me for references from old work when their own words its all but confirmed theyre otw to make an offer?

Great, loving the new work environment and people here are great so far. Not to mention the commute feels nice and not having to pay parking fees is the cherry on top

i applied to literally the best company of all the available ones together with applying to at least two dozen others that are all objectively worse and smaller and would never match my salary expectations. the only company that reached out and that finally made an offer was that first best one. others just ignored my application with custom cover letters and everything

i wanna say something is fundamentally insanely wrong with hiring process these days but also i understand theres an implicit need in making it look like people should be thankful to hold any job and be totally afraid to lose it because the hunting process is so humiliating and depressing

Man IT/Fintech companies are full of unserious people. Entry level roles and they want you to come with 5+ years experience they quite literally do not want to onboard and train people for these roles. They instead want to underpay over experienced people for these roles. Just ridiculous.

Try sales. Theyll hire anybody and if youre good at it, youre making good money.

Imo its better than being unemployed until you find something more suitable.

two years in sales was my school of life kind of situation and i naturally transferred to something i was much better at afterwards. its a solid gig if you dont sell complete bullshit and if you 'wanna do it' if that makes sense. helped me build a lot of confidence on all fronts

So i decided to accept a very s***ty position offer. Pay is ass. Fully onsite everyday and worst of all about an hour long commute every day one way.

Even tho i got a job now i still feel s***ty
