Its impossible to get anything in the IT field. Even entry level Help desk roles are impossible to get. Even in interviews i make it past the 2/3rd interview and I'll hear them say they wanna bring me on. Then boom rejection. This s*** is getting so demotivating atp

The problem is because the market don't need people with no entry level knowledge. So there's no new persons getting into it and the people that are already over 10+ years in it are being replaced by a more cheap third world work force with AI helping them.

So you have people with 10+ years of experience getting layoff to get the job that should be handled by entry level knowledge new guys.

Nah the last part of this sentence hits different. Literally have a best friend tell me part of their meeting they had today was about training folks in india with AI to make business boom and layoff folks

I remember i had a group interview right before covid and they made us get into smaller groups and act out scenarios for everyone. I'm like 100% sure this is a humiliation ritual.

The recruiters need more humans with hard and soft skills. We need more people to use AI. Not more AI to use people. AI is already trainned.

I hear you, but forcing people to give presentations and tests that are hours long and multiple interviews just seems like free labor and data mining

Talk and interact is the only things that you can't do with AI nowadays. It's necessary

My field is pretty cooked unfortunately. Most of the hard probelms of the field have either been solved or are being solved using deep learning

There's this quote that always flows through my mind in times like these when I think about careers: "do it like you gonna be paid a million dollars for it"

It took several years and professionals earned a lot of money to get to where we are.

I remember vividly in 2010 when I was in High School, IT was the number one career and safest path in school to strive for. There was a 15 year career outlook and s*** was off the charts back then, you couldn't do better.

Godspeed man, it’s rough out there.

I think in terms of tech there are four routes 1) learn engineering 2) become an electrician 3) build Ai apps 4) pivot and go something that won’t be impacted by Ai (hospitals are ALWAYS understaffed)

I might pivot into molecular biology. I have a biology degree but i rarely do experimental work. Seems pretty resiliant to ai and funding cuts

Industrial Automation. Rockwell, ABB and Siemens coding to industrial process its safe for the next couple years. There's no internet connection to outside world on industrial networks it means no AI bots
