No official indication of that being a demo though?

The fact it was sold for a product kinda shows a different angle

The album was never finished and he used it to sell those stem players. No one with a brain counts that as an album of his

  • deleteduser579

Kendrick is too introspective and Tyler is too “weird” to properly escape into like that compared to most streets artists or Carti for that matter

this clip sums it up pretty readily

Would you have said the same about Jay Z before 4:44 dropped?

    No because

    A) WTT was great

    B) Jay could still fundamentally rap even if he wasn't in top form, unlike Kanye mumbling his way through tracks and Eminem rhyming a whole lot of nothing in awkward ways

    C) He didn't bring any questionable, corny movements into hip hop in the early 2010s or really ever

Truly insane to me how there are people getting mad at criticizing 2023 Kanye or Eminem, albeit in a severe and perhaps somewhat reactionary way

It's not exactly a completely baseless opinion to think that these guys should seriously leave the culture alone because they've overstayed their welcomes. I'm just taking the fact that these guys have fallen off creatively, and are really dubious as public figures culturally, to its logical conclusion

    Stop crying

Jay was always respectful to hip hop at a base level even at his "worst"

Ye and Em making a mockery of the craft at this point, though Ye is still a solid producer

  • Bobby_96

I find it funny though that hip hop started dying commercially as soon as Kanye canceled himself out the game.

Not saying it's a direct correlation but it's kinda interesting.

Ye and Em both have the most Spotify monthly listeners after Drake and Doja too rn so they'll always have fans to fall back on and their back catalog racks up enough numbers for them to properly retire.

Yeah cause Kanye was the blueprint for a lot of creatives in all aspects from the cover art, videos, shows, marketing, music, etc

I get that I may have worded this in a kinda spicy way but the core point that these two pillars in the culture are doing more harm than good being active within it still is frankly bulletproof

I'd rather they retire than drop a dud.

But I'm not sure what you mean by hip hop improving though.

Ye canceled himself out of the game last year and Eminem is already semi-retired.

The rap world is already moving past them tbh while ironically starting to fall off commercially.

As of 2023, Chief Keef, Carti, and Thugger's influence is far more felt in mainstream rap than Ye's and Em's with some exceptions to the rule such as Utopia.

But none of their successors are actually good lmfaoo

    A. WTT isn't a solo album. BP3 and MCHG were solo albums.

    B. Jay's my dude but his flow has gotten quite sloppy and offbeat over the years. Sometimes, it sounds like borderline spoken word. But you're right that he's more likely to drop a solid verse than Ye/Em these days.

    C. What corny movement did Ye bring? He mostly seemed to have influenced creative/artistic type rappers. The MAGA and Nazi s*** was just Ye destroying his own brand. It was never an actual movement in rap.

These are the people Kanye has brought into the culture in the last ~7 years or so

most of the weird nazi rap fans i see come in through the experimental underground scene (shed theory, yabujin, etc.) and YE24 antisemitism stuff

joey/shed theory due to their affiliations with sam hyde and MDE but some have said he’s distanced himself from hyde since he got more popular

bladee and lean have an alt-right contingency in their fanbase but bladee explicitly denounced it

even the phonk scene has a nazi presence in it

i think the underground stuff is mainly due to the demographics thats listening to it mostly which is teenage suburban white kids

I just think the debate is funny because it's such a weird ass one off event of an album "release"

It's like kanyes paradox "it is neither released or unreleased as it will never be finished anyways"

Wild because Kid Cudi, Mike Dean, Def Jam, Universal, Jay Z, and Pusha T have all severed ties with him

Aside from Def Jam & Universal, the others have personal issues with him

Well considering you can't condemn an entire scene based on a fringe contingent of said scene but you can condemn someone who publicly denies that the Holocaust happened and praises Hitler, the issue is pretty clear cut

  • Nov 19, 2023

    I disagree

There is already an influx of lyrical rappers rn and if Eminem is stopping them from thriving then that wave will never come back at all and even if he retires, his rap kids like NF are just going to take his lane and dominate so white people wont necessarily dump HipHop once Eminem retires because a replacement will just satisfy their music taste.

The right-wing agenda is almost non-existent musically outside of some fringe YouTube MAGA rappers so Kanye made no impact on that front whether he started it or not.

Without Mike, Cudi, and Push in his corner this man is cooked artistically and he can't even get distro for his music lol

These were huge ties he needed that fell apart irretrievably

most of the ye24 fan accts you see on social media these days are unironic nazis

they repost his clips talking about jewish people and various far-right memes

it’s sad but it’s quite undeniable that he has a sizable portion of his fanbase that doesn’t really like him for his music but rather his crankery
