There's definitely a push. Look at any of those trash rap pages on IG. Most of it is right leaning politics and anti trans rage baiting stuff.
tbh… hip hop has kind of always been conservative like that unfortunately.

I feel like it's way more than ever though. Naturally a genre that has many artists bragging about wealth, women, status etc born out of impression in a Capitalist framework and society would be a little more right leaning as you say.

Idk, you go look at 90s rap culture and it’s definitely the same s*** but probably worse ngl

Im probably just noticing it more now that I'm older I guess
The greatest there is.
The greatest there ever was.
The greatest there ever will be.

A. WTT isn't a solo album. BP3 and MCHG were solo albums.
B. Jay's my dude but his flow has gotten quite sloppy and offbeat over the years. Sometimes, it sounds like borderline spoken word. But you're right that he's more likely to drop a solid verse than Ye/Em these days.
C. What corny movement did Ye bring? He mostly seemed to have influenced creative/artistic type rappers. The MAGA and Nazi s*** was just Ye destroying his own brand. It was never an actual movement in rap.
1) It's still an example of Jay's talent behind the mic and as an artist in the early 2010s
2) He definitely wasn't in top form in 2013 but he is still good at rapping and never hasn't been, even if his level of quality has fluctuated. Kanye and Eminem are not good at rapping anymore. You get these guys to freestyle, pen a verse, make a song, whatever, they will absolutely wreck it
3) The success of Tom MacDonald, Lil Pump (who Kanye collabed with on Pump's biggest song to date) endorsing Donald Trump and making a track about it, Sexyy Red endorsing Trump, etc, all comes from Kanye. That s*** would not have happened without him making it seem "cool" and "countercultural" to be part of the alt-right
forced retirement for rappers is the deafening understanding that no one cares about your music, so you don’t even care so you start podcasting & talking about when your were hot

1. Ironically, many people said Ye outrapped him on some songs but I'll give him that albeit you'd have to give it to Ye too.
2. Eh....you're exaggerating a bit. Eminem's verse on that Nas song was dope. Nas had the better verse but Em's was still pretty good. Also, Ye blacked out on Keep It Burnin and City Of Gods last year. Hell, even "Eazy" had more memorable lines than Game's verse. I agree that their rapping ain't what it used to be but it's not as terrible as you're making it out to be. MMTBS and Donda were filled with good raps too.
3. Tom MacDonald sounds nothing like Ye at all. And he's more of an Eminem wannabe by his own admission. And even I wouldn't pin Em on him since Em hates Trump. Lil Pump's career has been dead since COVID hit. Rappers linking up with Right Wingers was a thing before Ye endorsed Trump. Eazy E had dinner with George Bush Sr. And one of my GOAT's, Wayne, was repping All Lives Matter as far back as 2016.

I agree with Jefferson.
Rap has never been more pro-LGBTQ and embracing of female rappers than it is today.
It's way less stigmatized for a rapper to "come out" today than in the 90's/00's by far. Tyler's sexuality practically never gets brought up for instance.
Also, Eazy E had dinner with George Bush Sr. and Lupe dissed the hell out of Obama back in the early 2010's.
If anything, Kid Rock pioneered the Rapper to Right Wing Conservative pipeline over any of the names listed.
I agree with Jefferson.

I think if a drill rapper or street nigga came out as gay or bi their career would be over.
What point did he say that? Was it in the interview with Cole?
Yep. That's the one.

I tried to find a quote where Yachty puts blame on Ye or Eminem but it sounds like he's referring to his own peers who OP claims would be "saving" hip hop if Ye/Em retired.

Personally still think there's a long way to go for female artists given the most popular ones are sexualised as a prerequisite for them to gain attention, which I think is backwards. But it's a step forwards from before I suppose. More of a wider societal problem than exclusive to music.
I agree with Jefferson.

Lupe didn't diss Obama from a right-wing perspective though
And dinner with the president is corny but doesn't amount to much
But yeah it was basically impossible to be a commercially successful gay hip hop act until the late 2010s, and that includes the underground as well
It's insane how you really could not get a record deal as an openly gay rapper until 2017
It's a lot of popular rappers that are gay/bi/not-exactly-straight who keep it on the DL for that reason still. Biggest sore point for hip hop culture unfortunately
Powerful thread.
an idea cannot be destroyed
Ye West retirement soon Inshallah
