Trap wasn’t new in 2015 but I feel you on everything else
Maybe I should have specified. “Trap” as in what the general listeners would consider trap nowadays. It was the birth of SoundCloud rap becoming mainstream and every older rapper slowly but surely started switching to more modern beats etc etc
No disrespect to people like Jeezy, T.I and all them
If Ye didn’t put on the hat, I still feel like Ye would have been rated a lot higher than it is. People wanted to hate him and he gave them a mid album and this has gone on ever since.
Nah. Let's not rewrite history.
Ye was an okay album that got eclipsed by KSG and Daytona that same year.
It had its highlights but it was still okay at best for Ye standards.
Love Everyone would've been better though.
Ye is pretty popular and loved by the casuals lol
I see no one outside of Ye stans talking about that album

Nah I know what you meant but I’m not even talking about TI and Jeezy.
I’m saying that a lot of the modern trap sounds we hear today were influenced by Lex Lugers production in 2010/2011

I think he’s saying that the backlash to Ye wouldn’t have been as severe as it was at the time not that Ye is a classic

Fallin', dreamin', talkin' in your sleep
I know you want to cry all night, all night
Plottin', schemin', findin'
Reason to defend all of your violent nights
MAKE NO MISTAKE GIRL STILL LOVE U
This now a YE APPRECIATION THREAD

Oh true. I feel that.
That TMZ s*** and the White House visit overshadowed a lot lol.

3 songs on there still get around 500k streams daily (All Mine, Ghost Town and Violent Crimes)
Not everything is about ye stans. Ye stans also s*** on Graduation and that album is getting 5 million streams every single day rn and is also charting lol. The general population definitely f*** with "ye"

Y’all gotta understand that people can like certain songs from an album but that doesn’t mean they like the entire album. I barely see people talk about the record as a whole.
What 4 songs went viral on TikTok?
They should retire for the sake of their own discography and legacy but it wouldn’t have no impact on the rest of hip hop music lol
Bro Veeze would’ve gotten smoked in 2011
They don’t remember lol
Bigghostfase would have had a legendary write up. The YouTube rap critic “this Nigga sucks” videos and comments would have been amazing

I don’t even like Sean like that but niggas owe him an apology for all the smoke that he caught knowing what they let slide today
Here's a theory- The reason why hip hop is dying is because everyone bet on the backpackers as the future of hip hop. Prior to that, there's a reason why the street and gangsta mc's were on top for a long time. They had that hunger to keep wanting to release music. Once the torch was passed to the more "conscious" type of mc, things got a bit sour imo.

I think the reason is we pretty much lost a whole generation to violence, d**** or prison
