i really believe most of the adults in the world who wanna die are just tired of living to work or have goals that they can’t reach because they don’t have the right financial resources
the only other reason i can come up with is maybe to get out of a life prison sentence. even things like grieving a loved one you can argue as people not being able to afford therapy or medication to address their emotions
yes
if money was not an issue for anyone people would still have other problems but certainly not as many
But i believe some people have such bad mental illness no mattr how well off they are they will still want to end it
Yes lol.
The human condition is harsh on its own, regardless of whatever economic system you live in.
i think ppl killed themselves in the soviet union bro
it wouldn't be as prevalant that is for sure
theres plenty of mental illness that doesnt have to do with the constraints of capitalism.
theres also plenty of physical ailments that will lead to severe mental illness regardless of capitalism.
A person who loses mobility may still have strong urges of suicide for example, because they may lose everything they had in life as a result.
man What?
i love ktt
Its a good question, bcause i read somewhere that cavemen werent suicidal
That’s very interesting

hmm i admit i didn’t think about terminal illnesses but there’s a lot a medical conditions where quality of life could be vastly improved with more money for healthcare
You're somewhat cooking OP i do think capitalism creates a lot of suicidal tendencies but i dont think its the actual cause
obviously. being religious makes you less likely to kys though
also suicide is cultural and contagious, so when famous people end it they start trends of suicides and countries that never had suicides now have them because charismatic people did it and inspired others

So if the pope were to kill himself, would the religious buff cancel out the contagious part
Yes it would exist without capitalism

im not talking about terminal illnesses, im talking about things that would remove the ability to live your life in the way you want to
If someone spends their life training and competing for some sport and thats like decades of their life spent working towards it, just to become paralyzed without death being anytime soon, its possible suicide would be preferrable. or maybe someone can no longer eat food, goes on a tube, and cant handle the loss of that sensory input
and this can be applied to tons of situations, this is always a huge part making up numbers of suicide
plus another example is gender affirming care, is an anti-capitalist society going to have that available or not? its not an inherently capitalist thing to have or not have but is pretty connected to rates of suicide
money is the root of evil, but getting rid of it/capitalism doesnt solve all the problems we have today
