Yeah but still someone like 50 Cent is still prevalent in the culture despite not releasing an album and sticking to be a TV mogul
Jay is in his 50s so I understand why he doesn’t pop out as much but that can also hurt him in the long run
Hurt him in the long run?
He’s already cemented. He doesn’t have to drop another album ever if he doesn’t want to
no one ever talks about Eminem’s influence on Kendrick and it’s so obvious lol
Yeah. I'm not denying Kendrick draws some inspiration from Hov or quoted some lines of his but his actual rapping style overlaps with Wayne, Andre, and Eminem more than Jay's.
Just look at B**** Don't Kill My Vibe remix for example and it's obvious how distinct both of their styles are.
Everyone will forget about every artist eventually
People read books that are 3000 years old
True. Id say alot of Outkast still hasn't aged and if anything sounds like the future still.
Same with that first Missy album imo
Kendrick is a huge stretch.
Kendrick is more so of Wayne, Pac, and Outkast's lineage than Hov's. Eminem's too arguably.
Yeah, out of all of them I'd say Kendrick is the least directly influenced in terms of rap style
But he still bigs up Hov all the time plus he named himself K Dot
Same with that first Missy album imo
Missy got one of the best discography’s in rap
Same with that first Missy album imo
LETS TALK ABOUT SUPA DUPA FLY. Ahead of its time. 27 years later that album is still getting played. Oh and Ginuwine’s first two albums in 1996 and 1999 - HEAT
We’re definitely in a revisionist history era with Hov
Niggas act like Hov is weak now but Hov was treated like God on earth at one point
He still is whenever Drake or someone big always ask for an album feature so he still is considered pretty big amongst the older demographic
LETS TALK ABOUT SUPA DUPA FLY. Ahead of its time. 27 years later that album is still getting played. Oh and Ginuwine’s first two albums in 1996 and 1999 - HEAT
It literally still sounds ahead of what’s going on today
Timbo a goat forever off that alone
Reasonable Doubt amazing but still a ways behind 36 Chambers, Aquemini, Ready To Die
True I like these albums more, arguably you can say OutKast’s discography aged better, it’s really perfect
But for Jay-Z I’d say he always stayed true to the current sound while keeping his charisma and personality. His albums from the 90s are a bit dated but use a sound that can translate well today. Then his 2000s stuff like Blueprint, Black Album, American Gangster aged really well I’d even say Dynasty too. Had hits throughout his lifetime and consistently dropped in 20 years.
If you dont like Hov I dont need any other musical opinions from you ever
True. Id say alot of Outkast still hasn't aged and if anything sounds like the future still.
Kast albums still sound great
Will Hov stand the test of time? Riddle me that
Hov still top 3 best to rhyme, me BIG and Pac
Hov is inarguably the greatest imo and I'm 26, all my niggas mid 30s tho
but nah fr I think the same way Jordan is the goat, he defined the term for all time and for generations, overtime new kids push the boundaries and cause us to question the benchmark, but Jay is still him
We’re definitely in a revisionist history era with Hov
Niggas act like Hov is weak now but Hov was treated like God on earth at one point
HOVA!
No. His black capitalist persona is aging badly already and he isn't releasing enough new music to stay relevant with younger generations
The music will last forever ofc, just talking about his reputation
