He’s been on a weird downward trend since After Hours. That album was amazing and probably him at his creative peak, then Dawn FM was fine but clearly less than its predecessor…then everything so far for this album was kinda just ranged from underwhelming to straight up ass

Dude is washed and the singles have sucked and the sound is super derivative of s*** he's already done better before so I really don't care about this project

i like him alright most of the time, but all of his arguments come from a place of deep cope. if the weeknd's album rollout was any good, he would not have to badger people into not criticizing it. he would not need to defend such genius decisions as releasing the only decent single from the album as an "apple vision pro" exclusive, because that would not happen in a scenario where this was planned well.

He has been dropping music nonstop for exactly 5 years now (it started in December 2019)

AH, then Dawn then Starboy resurgence, then The Idol and now HUT... so for the GP, he has always been here, there's no "comeback" narrative cause there's no comeback 🤷‍♂️

because his pop sound is played out already and he doesn't know when to let go and try something different

plus Dawn FM was lowkey not his best even though it does have a few bangers

and last but not least the lead single was an iphone ad and was the most pop thing he’s done in a while and sounded generic

the zeitgeist moved from 80s dance pop to girlie guitar pop around 2022. this weeknd sound doesn't have chart appeal anymore. maybe a gracie abrams feature can save him.

It was cool for Dawn but the terminator and movie influences hinted at a new sound more than rehash

also i see no conversation about this guy online. it's like there is absolutely 0 demand for new music right now. he should be careful. he had 3 albums in a row with massive generational hits (BBTM, Starboy and AH). Dawn FM, while not having such a hit, is arguably his best album. If this last album is a commercial and critical flop, the Weeknd will leave on such a disappointing note.
