tell me your fav Stevie Wonder 90s album then

Stevie made Jungle Fever in the 90’s, pretty dope 30 years, working with Spike Lee

Ye sending p*** to his staff, linking up with Nick Fuentes and Alex Jones, having public outbursts embarrassing his family. Bringing sexual abusers on stage, caping for Da Baby of all people

That’s why I say we expect better from ye. But also I understand mental health took a toll on that guy.

Besides the mental health, since Pablo he's always been unfocused, working on multiple endeavors at a time. In one of those leaked docs, from an outside view seeing his day to day schedule was exhausting. He's doing like 100 things at once.

Music not the primary focus anymore, which is why him locking in with Donda achieve pretty good results imo, and a clear sign of inspiration. Although Donda still has its flaws.

Now post DEFCON ye, he lost all major backing and left a giant stain on him as an artist. Ye music is rooted in samples and collaboration and now he can't even clear samples anymore, and a lot of collaborators are more hesitant to work with him.

Then when you add his mental health struggles and his spontaneity. It's no wonder his music declined so much. Even YE sounds more cohesive of an album than V2, which is crazy to think when remembering how hated YE was back then

my overall point is most artists that you loved from the 60s, 70s, and 80s it comes a point that even thought they STILL releasing music, your interest isn't as there as it was cause you know those artists are most likely washed.

I'm just saying this is where we are at with ye.

they maybe exceptions to the rule but david bowie and leonard cohen were quite literally releasing great albums until they died, prince released a great album in the 2000s, bob dylan released a great album a couple of years ago when he was 79 etc etc. i would say kanye pre 2016 was on the level of those artists btw. not saying you’re wrong or anything but it can be done

Future really out of subject matter at this point.

Like damn we get it you got beautiful women around you all the time and expensive clothes.

    Talk about something else

do those great albums compare to their classics?

and I'm saying it's proven ye is not one of those.

    Let him go.

If 2000s Prince didnt drop albums every other week and compiled his best songs from 2/3 years he couldve definitely dropped on par with his classics. He was making incredible songs often

ive been let ye go, but what i’m trying to say is that maybe his slump has more to do with his mental health and his lack of accountability to get help than him getting old and not being at the forefront of pop culture anymore.

Ye discography more consistent than prince.

prince dropped a lot of misses in the 90's and 00's

I’d agree but I didnt really want to weigh in on Ye vs Prince, I just wanted to cape for Prince lol. If he cared more about bodies of work instead of just going with the flow and putting it all out there we would have quite a few more masterpieces at the cost of his prolific output

2000s prince released The Rainbow Children which is a way better religious album than Jesus is King, plus Musicology / 3121 which are more consistant than anything post KSG Ye. Not to mention i think they operate differently anyway, Ye is more of a creative and Prince was just a straight up musician so it explains prince’s massive output

I mean just speaking on a artistic level, mental health convo aside

The streaming era ruined his quality output

It supports his spontaneity too much

  • Aug 4, 2024

he started tweeting on his raps rather than on the internet. he's just blankly rambling on stupid s*** with zero flow or effort.
