    Mr Carter

drake stands apart from the rest of hip hop for more reasons than being the biggest star longer than anyone else. no one has gotten the fame drake has specifically because he went pop among some other reasons

he's also not threatening at all, drakes whole image fits snuggly into what american culture wants. and don't even bring up his rebrand into a thug, no one actually thinks drake is dangerous. the people around him are dangerous and thats completely different

Don’t disrespect the toronto grim reaper pal. That man gets mandem touched out here woioi

yea even though he had commercial success after that it was hip hop thats a great point about future fr

that last part is the s*** that confuses me the most its like didnt this nigga stop being a rapper and get a shag and no one bats an eye. drake was rapping on the beats kanye was singing on and created his whole sound damn near

I think its cuz Kanye is so respected by his peers. Plus he switches up his sound a lot. And the way he came up was hip hop and soul samples. But the people are hating unnecessarily on Drake, he created his own lane. He can clearly still rap like on "middle of the ocean" so yah he just getting hated on.

Future got hated on a lot earlier in his career. He still just labeled as a mumble rapper by old heads, but now with where hip hop is at the young ones give him his flowers so you dont see much hate.

and Future tried the pop route and it did not work for him., so he went back to his roots and finally found success.

"They tried to make me a popstar but they made a monster"

Whats interesting though is how Kanye never gets mentioned. If Drake is pop so is Kanye. In Kanye's words, he made a "pop art" album in 808s and heartbreak. Graduation has a lot of pop elements as well.

    Was Honest his pop attempt?

So you go out of your way to hate? Lame loser behavior. Drake is nothing but respectful to the craft of hip-hop and it’s funny you say that because he literally out raps most the game.

Dudes be going out of the way to hate on him because they can’t ignore his success. B**** made behavior man

    future and drake both

Probably the most formulaic rapper to be as big as he is. Seems like nowadays he's making worse versions of albums he already made. Except hnvm.

Also the mob-boss antics and misogyny is kinda going overboard

If The Shoe Fits is formulaic? He still comes with amazing tracks with concepts that haven’t been tackled in the way he approaches it…

I mean it feels like his last (many) albums follow a formula and that formula includes like 2 unique songs in the mix of pop trap

  • Jan 18, 2024

i mean i’m not hating but drakes better days are behind him. that’s it. it’s not as special as it was

no need to treat him like the prophet muhammad

also outside of his music he comes off as a complete manchild

Yes I would have… Drake has a career full of material of him barring out to traditional hip-hop standards. Just because he experiments on other songs and albums doesn’t make him less hip-hop, just more versatile, matter of fact he raps better than most rappers in the game… if Kanye is hip-hop than so is Drake, Drake is just better at doing the pop lane than any other rapper

FATD was an incredible album to me so yes I would have said that still

Drake proves he can do it all include rap

Ya but thats kinda my point. Drake's career rn is almost the same trajectory of the second half of Em's career, Drake is just the pop-rap version.
