Ya but thats kinda my point. Drake's career rn is almost the same trajectory of the second half of Em's career, Drake is just the pop-rap version.
Em was never pop rap? lol
Dudes don’t like Drake because their girl likes him and they feel threatened, so they try to discredit him every chance they get.
It’s really subconscious insecurity

No it’s not… not even close…
I used to be a huge Em stan but the fall off isn’t even comparable bro
Me neither I still don’t get it
Like really deep it this nigga has been with us through middle school, high school, uni, and now young adulthood
Hes the soundtrack to a whole f***ing generation and this how yall treat him?
Man idk s***s crazy sometimes

I’ve heard enough em and Skyler grey songs to know that man went completely pop rap several times

I compare Em to Drake and youre and Em stan who became a Drake stan.... Ya I think youre proving my point even further.
Also Drake hasn't fallen off yet commercially but neither did Em at that point.

An Em stan to Drake stan isn’t hard to believe considering they were the best most elite rappers of their time…
Every one was an Em stan in 2001 bro lol

I was never tryna argue Em isn’t pop, that’s just silly
op always gets hit threads after aggressively engaging everyone then dipping lol
I felt that way with More Life - Scorpion but everything after Her Loss has been gold so far
If you like it I don't blame you or anything but it's all formulaic still except hnm
I havent liked anything since wattba besides hnm, but I listen to many formulaic rappers like Waka and Gucci, all of old 1017 really, etc. it's not really a good complaint but it's true I think lol

To an extent, to stay hot in the game, which Drake seems to care a lot about, I think you sort of have to come up with a formula at some point. Unless you’re an artist like say Kendrick who tries to come with a new concept each time and doesn’t drop as often. But even then, when artists like Kendrick are trying something new each time, there still exists a formula in which they structure their songs and albums.
Example: 1 hard boom bap song, 1 experimental song, etc etc

Kendrick's albums are very formulaic too imo
I don't think change the main theme of the album is "something new"

Pretty much, I fully agree with that, especially these days (example of future too)
I think that's why I've gotten so bored of mainstream rap which sucks cause I always loved it. I remember Drake popping off and it was so cool to see it happen
Now even the 21 savage album has already fallen out of my rotation besides 2 songs... Need someone to start making real slaughter music again
Praying for Almighty so 2

I guess but in a really different way from this lol

Yeah they are, and in a way, it’s a part of his charm since the TDE days. TDE used to have an album formula that their fans would be familiar with. Conscious songs, hard songs, possee cuts, with call backs to previous songs.
In all honesty I’m failing to think of an artist that doesn’t have a formula because the harsh truth is all music is formulaic and just math really
AI will prove that

I think of it as "Do you like that formula or not?"

21 has been mid for a long long time. His trajectory into pop star has been kinda cringe to me idk why. A bunch of kids thinking they’re hard cause they listens to him
I think of it as "Do you like that formula or not?"
Yessir, so trying to s*** on anyone for being formulaic is just a bad faith argument
