“future is from south side atlanta and drake is from forrest hill toronto”

It’s almost like this is a big part of what goes into their music and why one is seen as more authentic and doesn’t get the pop label

Why does being from Atlanta make him more authentic

It’s not being from Atlanta. It’s just being himself in his music.

He said that during a public custody fight for his kid.

Either way you don’t see future throwing on fake accents in his music or adopting black slang in his late teens early 20s to compensate for the fact he was raised by his white family in Canada

He also told Nicki in private the same thing tho.

Bottom line is, future isn't just being his complete authentic self in his music. He definitely played up his character especially with the toxic aspect after the whole she from streets meme too

So we comparing playing up aspects of his music that people already liked like the toxic s*** to whatever Drake has done?

Drake on the same level as Yeat where they fake their whole s*** in the music but it’s fire so people ignore it

  • Jan 18, 2024

drek mainstream and not real mob boss 🤬

  • Jan 18, 2024

yeah all other artists are authentic and mean what they say unlike Drake, who’s the only rapper to change as he ages and experimented with the sounds from his city and he put accents in his music, the only one who’s done that

I'm not comparing levels of what they do, drake clearly does it more with his mob persona. But the fact is that future still does it quite a bit as well.

But that aside, the whole convo was about future and drake in terms of lyrical content. I really don't think they're a world a part like you guys are making it seem

Future got hated on a lot earlier in his career. He still just labeled as a mumble rapper by old heads, but now with where hip hop is at the young ones give him his flowers so you dont see much hate.

and Future tried the pop route and it did not work for him., so he went back to his roots and finally found success.

"They tried to make me a popstar but they made a monster"

Whats interesting though is how Kanye never gets mentioned. If Drake is pop so is Kanye. In Kanye's words, he made a "pop art" album in 808s and heartbreak. Graduation has a lot of pop elements as well.

  • People resented him before, now he resents them back, he's doing him now, imagine drake doing nails and all this weird s*** in 2012, they'd crucify him, like seriously derail his momentum. The black community/culture can't touch/police drake now and I think niggas are struggling to come to terms. As someone who's not big of a fan, I'm glad he's free tbh
