We do tbh you can go to a soul food restaurant right now and find wild diverse food....

Yea bro lemme just stop my culture real quick cuz u dont approve. Like wtf lol
this is not what i'm saying at all please read the thread
Tried it not my cup of tea 😂
it's foods like that

and i'm standing on that
this is not what i'm saying at all please read the thread
I get what youre saying it connects back to slavery but nah. Soul food is entrenched in my family. I can only imagine how good s*** be in places like georgia n louisiana god damn like the dirty dirty south.
Sorry op its just not happening. We might as well cancel singing too with this logic. Not trynna be a d*** but i just don't see eye to eye with this mentality. Yes as a people we were enslaved and that will forever be apart of our history and culture. Many traditions will align with that and food is just one of them.
Im from uptown so amy ruths and Sylvia’s & light house keep me well fed
Love sylvias cornbread

but you can understand why some people feel like we shouldn't just accept that and keep it moving, right?
that's all im saying
i don't expect everyone to see it the way i do
but as long as we can discuss it
i'm happy
i appreciate your thoughts
i believe we all should have the freedom to do as we please
but i also feel like we shouldn't demonize the people who are interested in taking new paths
and i feel like too often that's the case
i don't feel that i've been aggressive toward anyone in my stance
and i really try to be understanding to everyone else's perspective
i feel that we all should be this way
nahmean
i don’t speak for everyone in the south but i think most of us would rather die than live in a world without soul food

why do you think that is?
is it the food itself or the memories associated with it?

Soul food slaps

food is food
sure
but you're trying to tell me
you don't see anything wrong
with eating chitlins, pig feet, etc.
not a single thing?
Man if someone likes the taste of something, why does it matter
Why would we stop eating something that tastes good?
I ain’t even black and I’ll be eating soul food for life
Soul food slaps
maybe i'm an idealist
but i see how talented black people are
i just feel like if we put our heads together
we could come up with something that truly nourishes us
how powerful of a statement would it be to pushback against what was given to us and choose something new to champion going forward?

So what direction would you take it?
So what direction would you take it?
maybe something inspired by african cuisine
i've been doing a lot of studying about Kemet
and other early african leaders etc.
it just always baffled me that we associate our culture with soul food
when you do a lil research you learn that
we as black people are so much more
and so something along those lines is what we need imo
i know that doesn't speak to specifics
but i'm not a chef so
lol
