The last season of Mad Men is pretty bad and Don did a few things that he wouldn't have actually done but it was required to get the plot to move towards the unfitting end.
Of course there were issues before then but never much and could easily be discarded since everything else was so great.
The last episode felt like just another episode.
Watchmen the Limited series was just okay and mad overhyped.
Tell em! S*** was so ordinary.
the lighthouse is a mid film wrapped up in good execution
Do you mind elaborating on this? I feel like execution is the biggest factor in determining a movies quality. A movie can have a good script but not be directed well so it's not done justice. Same as a movie can be all style and no substance. With lighthouse even though the story itself might be pretty straightforward, the fact that it can be interpreted to mean so much more speaks to the quality more than anything
Watched Joker a few days ago, was pretty disappointed. Best thing about it was the visuals (one of the best looking movies I've seen in years). Joaquin's acting was good but it just felt like his whole role was reacting weirdly to s***. Something happens in the story - cuts to him doing weird ass ballet movements. Another thing happens - he's laughing manically immediately after. Props to him for losing that weight, but he was underutilized in this film imo
Feel like it had a message but I didn't catch it, maybe society doesn't treat mentally ill people as well as we should? Easy access to guns encourages those on the outskirts to cause chaos because of how they've been treated?
Also didn't f*** with not knowing what was in his head and what was real which is weird because I loved the same trope in The King of Comedy. It just felt lazy to me in Joker maybe because its possible none of the movie actually happened
Just watched the OG Blade Runner. Crazy how the first one can make you dislike the 2nd one even more

I never saw 2049, but I didnt care for the first one at all.
Us is a s***ty and not consistent movie that exploit a lot of generic horror movies tropes.
jackie brown is Tarantino's best film by far
idk if this is unpopular but spring breakers is top 5 or at least top 10 of the 2010's

US is probably the worst film relative to the amount of praise it got that I can recall in recent years.
Absolutely generic and boring as s*** with the most obvious plot twist for a doppelgänger movie imaginable
Sickens me that this is an unpopular opinion but wtf is wrong with the Academy? Parasite winning in a year Midsommar, Uncut Gems, and The Lighthouse were released? What a f***ing sham.
What does the Academy have against A24? Like A24 is very clearly producing the best films rn yet the Academy HATES them
I had to cut it off when they spent about 15 minutes making me watch Rooney Mara listen to music on headphones with no cuts lmfao
