Not a wild take but definitely not a popular one:
Cynicism and an active aversion to earnestness in screenwriting and storytelling is the root of modern blockbusters’ glaring problems. Powerful and highly engaging blockbuster films that stick with us, regardless of genre or tone, are always filled to the brim with earnestness for whatever its themes and characters are meant to convey
When you take this away, well…you take away powerful blockbuster filmmaking. And what’s funny is that every odd blockbuster film we get nowadays that becomes a mega phenomenon proves this is true in the sea of failed attempts to capture a wide audience. It’s like most modern blockbusters have an air of contempt for their own material and intentionally shy away from satisfying universal aspects of the human condition

MCU is bad is not a hot take anymore every tweet about a movie will have a reply saying “better than anything MCU has done”
It’s low hanging fruit at this point people use to make themselves feel like a film expert

i love animation but whenever i see a grown adult on twitter talking about animation should be taken seriously and how their favourite cartoons are actually dark and mature despite it being disney and the protagonist being a little girl this is always the vibe i get

Lmao rugrats
I’ve said it before but I think films and movies should shoot at 60 fps. I feel way more immersed in the scene, feels like I’m right beside them
Yeah you might be right cause I hate 60fps in film
“Why is this scene the hardest s*** ever🤯”

Nigga tried to get his infant brother killed is hilarious

This used to be a huge trend like 10+ years ago with the creepypasta thing. They said all the kids in Ed, Edd, and Eddy were dead and in purgatory.

The video essay community needs to die.
I'm trying to watch a season recap of some s*** and all there is are fake deep a***ysises of the thing. And it be having d*** eating titles like "opulence" "redemption"... b**** it's Spongebob
They tried to replicate the goats without the passion so they come off annoying and pretentious

To their disgust when Tommy came back instead of dying too lmao
Kind of tired of having Everything Everywhere All At Once shoved in my face all the time
I watched the film before the hype cycle began and thought it was overly long.
Anyone else think it's kinda annoying how long some movies rollouts are nowadays
Why did they drop a teaser for Bong Joon-ho's next movie 15 months before the release?
By the time Joker 2 drops in late 2024, the rollout will be over 2 years long
Maybe it's just how it is with social media now I guess

That Mickey17 teaser might be a top 5 most unnecessary teasers ever
We got f*** all out of it except for the title change, atleast drop it when it’s a year away

using higher frame rates is fine (Gemini Man looks amazing) but motion smoothing just sucks. It might look amazing to some people but I'd rather watch any film the way it was intended to be watch and not have some AI force it to look like something else.

Yeah there’s legitimately only a couple guys in this space that offer more than clickbait and surface level ‘reviews’
