feel like everything is too linear nowadays. even with great shows you can kind of predict how every episode in a season is going to be structured.

i also think it's better for overall character development. it's clear in so many of these shows, with their 6-10 episode seasons that characters aren't important. they're just people to serve a story.

This is probably a more normal take these days. But I feel like we are in an era of extremely talented actors/actresses, but mediocre writing. It drives me insane watching so many movies and shows with great acting ruined by some of the most cliche or generic writing.

The Dropout is my most recent example of this. Its so damn cliche but the whole cast did so well, especially Amanda.

Writing stories was never held back in whatever decade you are, they got held back by other limitations, you would think they would have it figured out by now but I feel the same

I'm rarely engaged in movies/shows nowadays

I watch alot but nothing excites me like that

Joker, Tenet & The Batman probably the last things I seen that genuinely excited me and the stories are not even that special

Nolan batman didn't age that well and is easily the worst part of his filmography

real s***. often times, those “filler” episodes allow the creators to experiment with the show in ways they couldn’t in regular episodes that are so focused on moving the plot forward

Buffy the Vampire Slayer is one of the best shows I’ve ever seen when it comes to balancing the plot-heavy episodes and the filler ones

The Dota 2 series on Netflix is criminally slept on. It ain’t as good as Arcane, but it’s still top quality. It should be supported more.
