stranger things is honestly boring as s***
Coasting by on nostalgia and plagiarism.
Everything I hate about modern media.
my hot takes:
“Joker” isn’t terrible but it isn’t amazing either. It’s a decent film, nothing less nothing more
“Malcolm in the Middle” Bryan Cranston >> “Breaking Bad” Bryan Cranston
“Buffy the Vampire Slayer” is one of the greatest tv shows of all time, up there with “The Wire” and “The Sopranos”
Most streaming shows fall off qualitywise after their first seasons, with “Stranger Things” being the perfect example of this. I think this is due to the fact that creators nowadays try to design their tv show seasons to be like 8-13 hour long movies, but of course, like most movies, the sequels can never touch the original.
“Revenge of the Sith” is the best Star Wars film.
ROTS is the best of the prequel trilogy (not saying much), more enjoyable than anything in the sequel trilogy and honestly I could see someone arguing it is better than ROTS even though I wouldn't necessarily agree
you need to put down the needle if you think it's better than ESB though, you just can't mount a case unless your mind is addled by black tar heroin
neither is sucking a24 cock and unwarrantedly crediting them

Most action sequences where you have 1 or 2 people fighting against a gang are poorly choreographed. You can always see the stunt people conveniently waiting for their turn to fight the main actor/actors.

Daredevil series and John Wick are the only ones I've watched with realistic action scenes

haven't seen the John Wick one but agree with the Daredevil one - one of the few that got it somewhat believable.
Shows like I May Destroy You and Random Acts of Flyness are extremely important and more people need to watch them because they deal with topics we need to be educated on and discuss. I'm so glad we're at a place where black creatives can make shows which would've been taboo af just a decade ago, I wish the same would happen in my country.
Bill Hader is a genius for the camera work on Barry s02e05. Things occur slightly offscreen and then the shot widens, bringing the audience in to what characters already knew or vice versa. An example of this is when Barry walks into the guy's closet and sees all his martial arts awards, then the shot gets pulled back a bit and the audience sees there's MORE martial arts awards, then the camera faces the opposite direction and the audience can see there's EVEN MORE awards all along the wall behind Barry which he only notices when he turns around to leave
This happens a few more times throughout the episode and I think its so dope, a great example to use in film classes years from now
Probably posted this before but I don't get the hype for the Social Network and I've watched it three times already
Good movie but yall call it one of the best of that decade and I just don't see why
These comic book movies are getting tiring. The movies were already getting too much now there are spinoffs and series and spinoff series.
And yes they are stinking up the film space. Same goes for all these unnecessary remakes and sequels after 50 years of the original film. I'll still watch sometimes though cause they can be fun for the moment
Get used to it, these movies are going to be more popular than ever once this pandemic passes and people can go to cinemas again. I feel like this the one industry to benefit from COVID, superhero movie fatigue was starting to set in but that'll be reset.
Marvel also about to just get completely crazy and weird with it, people will be extremely hyped to see Dr Strange 2 and Spiderman with all this multiverse s*** they're about to pull. Its far from over, superhero movies about to have another Drake-esque run
End of Evangelion and episode 25 and 26 are the same ending, and if we want to get more specific, End of Evangelion is really just a retelling of 25 and 26 for the people who didn't get it the first time around and needed more explanation. Oh and also its not a "Sad" or "scary" ending its honestly pretty optimistic, happy, and comforting.
Episode 25 & 26 are what would be considered the “good ending”. During instrumentality Shinji is able to come to terms with his self loathing and depression, and see that there is hope and that he’s able to change himself.
EoE is the “bad ending”. This time when facing instrumentality Shinji falls into despair, and his self loathing and depression have a stranglehold on him. He rejects being able to change, and doesn’t think things will ever get any better.
Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke. I really wanna finish Mononoke tho cuz I was enjoying that.
I have seen Howls moving Castle and I don't really remember much outside of aesthetic quality. Princess Mononoke is nice.
Kikis Delivery Service is nice too
But you're right they're really relaxing and comforting

Exactly how I imagine them
Quantum Of Solace > Casino Royale and Skyfall
Not because I think less of the latter, they're probably 7-7.5/10 movies
But QOS is insanely underrated, the shorter runtime works so well in making a grounded and focused story

Real af
Just finished season 1 of the Mandalorian and that was probably the best star wars thing since the Force Unleashed game lol

You straight clowning with the Cranston and Buddy takes. I agree with your take on streaming shows somewhat. Except I think it's a recent phenomenon. Like House of Cards season 1-4 was fire. Then it fell off in s5 and obv after Spacey left in s6.
I think the streaming services are just looking to pack their s*** with content and the quality has suffered somewhat. You get one decent season -> green lit for at least 2 more and the quality of those doesn't matter as much cause you already have an invested audience.
Someone in this thread already mentioned something like this but I'll say it again:
Golden age of TV (2007-2017) is over and Mr Robot was the last great show. Anything that started from 2017-18 onwards is mid in comparison to the best shows we had from those years.
Episode 25 & 26 are what would be considered the “good ending”. During instrumentality Shinji is able to come to terms with his self loathing and depression, and see that there is hope and that he’s able to change himself.

mmmmm, nah both are the same. Think about it, both times the walls between people are broken down and everyone sort of becomes one consciousness. Then, Shinji decides that individuality is worth it, even though it creates barriers between people that can cause a lot of pain. Then the joint consciousness separates and everyone goes back to being their own person. In the last 2 episodes, this process is shown from the point of view of the singular consciousness, and is super abstract, but in the movie it gets more concrete and shows the outside perspective.
If you're doubting this, consider how the final outcome of the TV episodes and movie are essentially the same, even though they may be portrayed in different ways.

Why is that unpopular? End of Eva is Ep 25,26 with budget behind it. Thats always been the plan.

I mean, the tattoo was probably cheaper than buying their merch. So good for this guy I guess.
