i rather listen to the beatles than trap

Lil baby rapping on Bush/Obama era Toomp beats ironically what he needs as opposed to more triplet flow bait beats lol

I love that era and I love Toomp, only thing that holds back some of those beats is the strides in engineering that we've seen since then, and the occasional cheap sounding synth. A lot of s*** from back then is still fire

I love how you broke it down. You’re spot on.
With the progression of AI and the climate of the business side of music, we’re at a standstill.

Yeah that's why we haven't seen any major changes yet. PC music tried to do it but the sounds were so bizarre and jagged that it never really caught on as a mainstream force. 808 drum machines sound futuristic but they're digestible sounds, whereas PC music stuff often sounds way too industrial and/or surreal to penetrate into wider markets the way 808s were capable of ubiquitously

I'd argue we may just be at the endpoint of drum sounds itself. We'll just get iterations and updates to the fundamental blueprint that exists today.

There’s a very obvious difference and progression between osamason type beats and the average beat you’d hear in 2018

I'm not. Average osamason type beat is pretty boring from what i've heard, nothing really interesting going on in most of them apart from cool synths lol

Now listen to something like 20 Min by Uzi or Dark Knight Dummo (s/o CNOTE)

That being said i don't listen to this scene much so maybe i'm missing on something

Reese bass and thick/deep drums will save us 🙏🙏

  • “What comes after trap beats”

    Well it’s clearly been rage

  • I do wish more ppl explored “post trap”.
which I think kinda started with die lit but wasn’t really expanded upon

There’s already plenty of Reese bass usage unless you mean people trying to do it in like the old school way where it’s a reese bass sample blaring at you (there’s some isoxo skrillex songs that do it)

  • If drain gang produced for major rappers then the world would change
