They asking for her to present the bullet fragments because she's claiming that's what happened. The doctors are claiming otherwise by saying they never recovered any bullet fragments and treated her for "superficial wounds". It's more than likely she was never even shot, but the gun was definitely fired.

The evidence never disappeared or got lost, it never existed to begin with. Everyone just believed her and continues to believe her.
