Wolf and Cherry Bomb were his best albums
Igor was mid and boring af
Thanks OP for saying something finally
It reads forced as hell to most folks cuz Kanye and P are from a different era when hip hop as a whole had more of a monoculture focus type thing going on, so they were ever present
In terms of influence in that blog era space Tyler kinda is one of the closest things we have to them if we being honest since him and OF were some of the first to be on that internet "DIY" s***, it's just not as in our faces cuz of how fractured and niche everything is
That’s true but OF members like Earl and Frank branched out and created incredible albums to their names that backed up their artistry. Tyler doesn’t really have a Life Of Pablo or In My Mind to his name.
It feels like people enjoy the idea of Tyler The Creator as an artist more than his actual music

This just reads like your opinion man. I remember when both those albums came out, the reception were mixed for both and In My Mind especially was s***ted on
Flower Boy had better instant reception than both
When In My Mind initially dropped the initial response was that P was not that good of a rapper / singer to carry a whole album and the beats were the best part of it and s***.
It didn't really get a re-evaluation until the blog era niggas who were fans of P & Ye popped off and that's when it's influenced started to show
I find the story threading the album together to be more interesting than the album itself. Like the information he's presenting is dope it tells us a lot about him as a a person. but the music in itself isn't remarkable to me
i agree 100%
its almost like he intentionally had an agenda of making a “vulnerable” album in the same vain of mr morale but contriving to have that as the centerpiece ultimately led it to ironically feel too calculated and a lot of the other important elements got overlooked
I haven't listened to the entire album cuz I'm washed but the Like Him edits I saw made me check out the song and I appreciate the vulnerability of it. Only other song I've heard is Sticky and the guest verses are gimmicky but I like the song overrall. Acting like Earthquake isn't a huge hit is wild though

Tyler is extremely successful. He’s also underachieved culturally. It’s even crazier to think about given the fact that he’s Columbia’s flagship rapper and he’s receiving a massive push

Idk he's winning Grammy's, Lionel's on an Emmy winning show, Jasper was in a #1 movie, Frank is Frank. Seems like they're all on great trajectories considering they started out with D12-lite raps and working at clothes stores in LA
