Coming to my theater this weekend. Seeing this, Motherless Brooklyn & Terminator the same day.

Expecting really good things from Dafoe in this one.

Loved this but to be honest expected to love it more based off the trailers which were my favorite trailers I’ve ever seen. I think watching all the trailers hurt my experience a little actually, some of my favorite moments were in the trailers. Cinematography of the year for me without a doubt though and when tommy finally sees what’s in the light was one of the greatest moments in a film I’ve ever seen. The light and sound design in that scene gave me chills

Also I thought Defoe outacted Pattinson whose accent fell in and out sometimes to the point of being distracting. am I the only one?

i had also hoped for just a slightly more cohesive plot like I thought the descent into madness could have been more linear if that makes sense which is never a complaint I would ever make about a movie but for this one I think it would’ve strengthened and propped up all the artistic exploration a little better. there was a point where I felt like they had just started losing their minds because it was time for them to start going crazy and the reason for it hadn’t been captured enough or it hadn’t happened gradually enough or something. Or like some of the more important narrative moments weren’t emphasized enough. Again these are complaints I would almost never make about a movie but for this one I just think it would have actually helped and made the movie a full 10/10 that being said I’m rewatching this weekend and might not feel that way at all after that so

Need to rewatch ASAP, theater viewing experience was 10/10, and that final penultimate shot with the light is easily my favorite part of any movie this year

Just got out the theatre and my sanity is in knots. My jaw was on the floor by the end of the film. This is the most innovative film I’ve seen in recent memory and it deserves more than a 10/10. Will have to watch it again to get a grasp of wtf I just saw. Movie has a lot of layers to it.
