Killing and violence are byproducts of the themes of the story, but they’re not the themes in and of themselves.
Killing and violence are a by product of love and the terrible things people can justify doing in the name of love.
Now If we were talking about tlou2
Violence is an actual theme of that story and there will be violence in that adaption if y’all want that.
seeing Bella be more violent than pedro gonna be wild
I don't think it needs it every episode or scene but I do think Joel and Ellie having more moments of conflict would address a lot of people in this thread concerns about the show. Its not walking dead doesn't need it every episode but I am confused on why they would put so many infected in episode 5 and so little in every other episode that needs tension. That needs that feeling of seeing the horrors of what they are trying to cure.
In my opinion. More conflict and encounters than they have shown, because it’s just these two characters would leave to a plot armor problems
true they should spend 8 minutes per episode treating injuries
not every episode lol
. I am saying even once in the 6 episodes
You are free to complain about that and it feeling “rushed” because of the absence of the enemy encounters to let scenes breathe. But remove those enemy encounters, what you’re seeing is how the game presented all these scenes.
I’m not one of the worst offenders of disliking this show imo. Do you really think this is on the same level as the game be honest?
If you do why?
As to what you replied it feels like we’re rushing through the development of the characters bc we are which again is likely just due to the episode count and format of a tv show but it feels manufactured like a stereotypical tv show at least to me

Did you not see Joel use bandages in episode 2!
We love to see it, another great f***ing episode
That commune ain’t going to last too long

there are plot armor issues either way there is no perfection of realism.
Not trying to argue fr im just curious as to to your viewpoint since we both played the games
not every episode lol

When E8 is just Joel laying on the ground bleeding out
"Kill everyone and survive" - Neil Druckmann
show
"talk to everyone and survive "

its not the same level but its not the same medium and its not fresh. The game first time was fresh. It was made for the medium. If Last of Us dropped as a tv show in 2013 would it get the same reception? Who knows.

It's better
The show has definitely made a couple things a lot more believable.
In the game you literally stumble upon Tommy.
Fr tho how tf he surviving that
this is why the "realism" debate is like nah just let them have their plot armor
2023 and dudes are completely allergic to shows that don't have violence every 5 minutes

I think they are presenting the actual drama and story of the show excellently and I think they are doing complete justice to the characters and the story.
Why?
I think Bella and Pedro are doing absolutely amazing as Joel and Ellie. They have their mannerisms down to a beat, and are acting their asses off.
The story for me, hits just as well in the show as it did in the game. They have taken characters and stories, expanded on them (well and even excellent matter of fact), and the few changes with the actual story (bill specifically) I thought have actually been BETTER than the games representation of bill.
For development of characters (I’m assuming you mean Ellie and Joel) I think they are progressing fine enough. There have been multiple skips now where we are supposed to fill in the gaps. They are finally feeling closer and bonding, telling jokes to eachother. And after 6 episodes together in a tv show format for me does not feel forced.
The action in this show is whatever and imo the worst part of the show but the haters eat that up whenever it comes up so whatever.
But overall as an Adaption, they are nailing the story, nailing the characters, nailing the theme, the relationships and if all for me.
This for me is the holy grail of video game adaptions and I’m so happy to see one done right
