if i dont think your a***ysis makes sense im going to quote you

you think they are arguably more attached in the show than the game at this point?
there are two moments in game where their relationship grows before the final chapter. the show already kinda went through one but did it different. the next is happening next episode i think. could hardly imagine game ellie making game joel laugh at puns before those two moments happened
Wasn't he literally about to pawn Ellie off on bill in the game? . I believe it's inferred
i know he wanted to pawn her off to another person as well, but idr if he also wanted to pawn her off to bill

being a sony employee, one who has no attachement to the last of us at that, does not mean a thing to me here lmao. this is a classic example of appeal to false authority

I am not even saying laugh fully to that degree. Their connection has been partially established and as you said I think Episode 6 we will see it the most so far. I can't really compare it to the game in the sense that in a game you can randomly explore and wonder and she will constantly say things and they have more gameplay portions where they are facing enemies and bond than the show which I understand the change.
also we dont even know why ellie wants what she wants until a certain part in the game lol

you saying I am saying it willy nilly or "did you play the game lol " . I am showing other people have the opinion too. Not saying because she is a Sony Employee her opinion is better than yours. I am saying the opinion is out there its not some s*** pulled out of nowhere. Again if you are loving the connection or feel its depicted same as game and you are connecting with it why the f*** does my opinion matter to you. I am not even telling others to feel that way. I was discussing with one person and in spoiler tags about where I was at with it. If someone is loving every second of this and thinks 10/10 greatest show on television ever I am happy for them lol
I think Sam and Henry , Bill and Frank performances and connections were just so good that out of all connections Joel and Ellie so far feel the weakest of the 3 connections . But thats partially because those actors put in work also their material was better because they had less time. Not sure if @rise_zero feels the same or where their head is at. But
I believe episode 6 we can get Joel Ellie time that catches it up some . Yes I know "this is the game" again having that beginning where joel and ellie are more hostile to each other than the game lead to some game players being like why
@Synopsis like this is where this started. I am in no way hating throughout this entire discussion about this and have defended the show from people calling it mid or trash or saying wild s*** like Bella can't act
i know he wanted to pawn her off to another person as well, but idr if he also wanted to pawn her off to bill
In the game I don’t think he pawns her off to bill or tries but he 100% is trying to pawn her off to Tommy

i didnt say you were hating lol i am saying their relationship is not supposed to be henry and sam or bill and frank. those people have spent years together. joel and ellie have spent months at best and one half of that relationship does not want to be in this situation

yeah thats what i thought

I brought that up for why the person said they felt they were being sidelined. ON WHY HE MAY FEEL THEY ARE SIDELINED. I DIDNT SAY THEY WERE SIDELINED
Tommy take this s***ty kid to the Fireflies for me so I can go back to my apartment and get drunk
Tommy take this s***ty kid to the Fireflies for me so I can go back to my apartment and get drunk
Exact quote from game I think
Tommy take this s***ty kid to the Fireflies for me so I can go back to my apartment and get drunk
lmfao one of the many reasons I dont understand the Joel worship. Goes from tommy take her to the ending real quick
like 80% of the games is joel doing everything he can to not have a connection to ellie lol
That's actually one of my complaints about TV show Joel. He isn't as cold and distant towards Ellie. So when we do see them bond on the show, it's not like he made some huge character shift.

He is stoic . He is cold and distant in a way . I don't understand not thinking he is cold and distant in the show
. We don't see him smile at all til like Episode 4

in the games he actually does start to grow fond of her and that becomes an internal conflict for him. we'll see how that plays out in the next episode because theyve set next eps events up waaaay differently than in the game.

Well that whole chapter is basically why. He goes from “you’re not my daughter you’re just cargo” to finally accepting their connection and taking her himself. Then the whole David s\*\*\*, then finally the Firefly massacre

I mean I am going to replay the game after but it feels like some of the bonding was the gameplay moments they cut. I could be wrong but something just feels missing connection wise. I know this is the you're not my daughter moment coming. I definitely think the Left Behind episode if it only covers Left Behind is really going to have to justify itself because time jumps affect momentum I think Last of Us 1

Show Joel is still badass but he’s way softer and emotional. With Tess, with Ellie, after the deaths of Sam and Henry. In the game it feels like he’s trying to reject feeling anything for most of the first half.

yeah my replay will make it more clear. Between them something feels different but its been a while so who knows . Just when I saw others who have beaten the game recently who felt the same way I was like "so its not just me" but who knows

That’s definitely part of it. There’s a lot of banter between them while traveling around that we never get to see in the show and that’s a big loss.

That is all I am saying. I mean it is to be expected with game to tv show. People don't like "filler" when I think filler can lead to getting to know characters more and they spend time with each other. Knowing exactly where to go in a game versus getting lost and seeing their dialogue, failing, all of those things. I am glad it is working for others I have made that clear and I have called it good time after time
