    Synopsis

in game joels biggest internal conflict is he does feel like a father figure to ellie, but does not want to.

joel is never actually a heartless b****** to her after like, the initial day they meet lol its weird people misinterpret it as that.

I dont think anyones saying he hates her. Hes just trying his hardest to reject her (and failing)

this is how people act tho. they think its

joel hates ellie > joel wants to get rid of her > joel realizes he doesnt hate ellie > joel becomes father figure

    when really it is

joel is angry at tess dying > joel is scared of caring about anyone else > starts to care for ellie > realizes this is a bad thing and tries to end it > starts believing that being father figure is best for him and ellie

I always kind of got the last progression I think my brain is just missing the banter and momentum the gameplay parts of solely seeing their perspective had. Bill and Frank episode was good show of humanity but it being the longest episode so far when it feels like Joel and Ellie just hit their stride with Episode 5 is why I said "I can understand how someone would feel they are sidelined". I think episode 6 will address much of that. Joel never really hates her if he did lol he wouldn't act the way he does time and time again. Just came across FOR ME better in the game. Again mocap and facial reactions. I have said multiple times Bella and Pedro just not as expressive to me face and eyes wise . There is still time and I think episode 5 clearly their best bar none

I wish they didnt change dialogues from game to tv show for certain scenes

In the game, Henry is like “its ur fault” wish he said it here too

that I am take it or leave it on. The only egregiously comical thing was him dying on the poster that was unnecessary.

Yea I’m watching the comparisons from the game to live action. And the dialogue in the game hits harder tbh

In my opinion “what did you do” changed to “what did I do” makes more sense for Henry’s character in the show. In the show he is less violent, never killed people, and doesn’t betray Joel. Much closer to Sam too in the show. Taking Blame for it I think fits Henry more in the show

I wouldn't say non existent Just they have done a great deal of set up for season 2 . Openly saying they have made her more violent or antagonistic to Joel partially to lead into what is coming in season 2\. Their connection so far FOR ME hasn't been crazy strong enough to justify her feeling like that about the lie because again as I list she lied to Joel about the infected in basement, didn't tell him about Sam getting bitten, didn't tell him she took a gun. Like yes she was lying for greater good and yes her knowing about Sam changing was sweet. I am just thinking of rest of season and next does it make sense that she goes on a rampage? Especially after she has seen Sam and Henry do whats necessary for love including sell someone out. Bill and Frank Suicide for love. They just going to have to sell that she goes from where she is right now to basically Kathleen. Showing Kathleen just didn't hit because Kathleen is such a preview of Abby.

This is just my personal opinion it has no affect on anyone else . If you are loving the show I am glad you are

last of us 1 and 2 spoilers

theres still a lot of time left in the show to establish all that

i do agree tho that its hard to see bella playing the TLOU2 Ellie at this moment in time lol

He takes the blame for it in the game too, that's why he shoots himself. "It's all your fault!" is him talking to himself. Maybe it's partly misguided anger against Joel too but ultimately he knows he failed to protect his brother.

Confirmed by Neil too I'm not just talking out of my ass

lol i didnt notice that. they went heavy on the superhero stuff which could have easily been corny but i think it worked.
