i hated how bland the side characters were. dina, abby friends,, i never act cared for them.

i remember how the death of henry and his brother f***ed me up in part 1. and then you have boring isaac vs the white r kelly version david

dont think that i would care about a part 3 (last joel and ellie scene goated tho)

David & Henry arcs were so well written

tess, henry & sam, bill, david, riley. all the side characters were cool.

i really didn't care about anyone in TLOU2 except for joel and tommy.

I dont get the point that is made about how Ellie letting her enemy live is thought provoking and "new"

That s*** has been done over so many times..

If you was in Ellie's shoes and you saw Tupac getting clubbed to death after getting his kneecapped shot off...you would spare Tupac's killer?

  • Game fell off quickly in the top 20 sales charts. Kinda think its a flop by sony expectations (15 mil sales at least)

    Finally getting to play this.

I get why people are mad at the story and I think it would've helped a lot to change the structure of the story to have more sympathy for abbey. If the game started from her perspective and 4 years earlier before she does that Walking Dead Glenn s***.

I get that they need to capture people's attention quick which is why they immediately give us Joel and Ellie in Jackson. But all the parts you play as Abbey later are overshadowed by what she did.

If they started the first quarter of the game as Abbey and her dad I think people would've had more sympathy for her, but giving her part to us the way and timing that they did just got me like

Exactly. We all already enjoy batman lol.

There were only two options for this game's ending, and it just took the less common one. Barely revolutionary.

I don't think ND expected to build sympathy for Abby. She is very clearly the villain of the story. She is just given a large arc because she is a centerpiece character which I see nothing wrong with. The fact she was such a polarizing character is exactly the reaction ND wanted because you're supposed to hate her but then the game makes you question yourself and the fact they pretty much knew this game was going to cause a huge division in the community shows it perfectly worked wherein most games would have created a feeling apathy at something similar.

I also don't think "resetting the momentum" is a problem, this is a common storytelling tool where you build to a climactic moment and then reset in the middle. I mean damn, The Dark Knight basically did this lol.

Abby is definitely not the villain, but neither is Ellie. There isn’t really a clear line between good and bad in this game. I think the moral ambiguity is why a lot of people struggled to enjoy this game

Dina and Lev are still fantastic characters. I honestly think Ellie and Dina is one of the best lesbian couples we have seen on screen, if not the best. Their interactions with one another in cut scenes and in the gameplay is beautiful and it honestly made me care a lot about Dina. While Lev does have a LGBT trauma story, I still think he was given a pretty strong arc that fits with the worldbuilding very well.

    finally finished

I understand the hate but internet blew it way out of proportion as usual. Great story, a couple things could have been handled better especially the jarring transition at the theater where the perspective switched to Abby, but I don’t have a problem with the ending except I wish we could have seen Ellie’s actual return to Jackson and also what exactly happened to Abby

i think they very clearly wanted to garner sympathy for abby throughout the game, same with the characters in ellie's camp.

the only time i felt anything but indifference for her was at the very end. in retrospect i really didn't care about ellie either. i kinda wish they all died. i only cared about joel and tommy lol.
