Barry runs as far as he can back to the shore (disengaging if necessary).

Barry, thanks to his ability to move over the surface, quickly reaches the shallow water and runs past Elori, now being close to Coochiemane.
(Disengaging isnt necessary in this scenario rn)

Turn 16 Tariq, Coochiemane & D12

Tariq and D12 heed Barrys advice and head uphil, farther away from the riverbank. Coochiemane mumbles "I'm ready..." as he sees Barry approach, he goes into a kneeling stance, almost looking like as if he was a Samurai about to draw his sword from the sheath. The green aura around him flares up once more.

It's now Eloris turn.

I look up at Coochiemane and keep swimming until I reach the bank

Elori runs past Coochiemane and gets to the foot of the hill that Tariq and D12 are on.

Turn 17 Octopus

The Octopus follows Odeon and Barry, they notice that it get's harder for the creature to move the less water is available for it to swim in.

It tries to grab Odeon who's closest to it.
Hit Roll (d20+5): 9+5 = 14 Misses

Odeon feels one of the tentacles sneaking up and trying to wrap around his ankles, but is able to pull the limb away in the last second.

The rest of the tentacles keep thrashing around in the shallow waters, slamming hard on the concrete riverbed.

Odeon, Barry and Coochiemane make a Dexterity Saving Throw (d20) to dodge them

Odeon keeps on dodging tentacles left and right, as soon as he feels some solid ground beneath his feet in the water he starts sprinting. He gets past Barry, Elori and Coochiemane and sees the rest of the squas up on the hill.

One of tentacles chasing after Barry smacks him across the head with it's tip.

Although it only grazes you slightly, it feels like your neck could easily snap if hit by a few of those.

“Ow,” says Barry as the tentacle whacks his head.

Barry continues running towards land but falters when he approaches Coochiemane in his samurai stance.
“What the hell are you doing?” asks Barry, looking back and forth between the octopus and dry land.
“Whatever it is, make it quick. I’m not sticking around to protect your ass forever.” Barry equips the arrow-catching shield and stands beside Coochiemane with his guard up.

Coochiemane chuckles "Don't worry... our little problem here will be gone in a flash... I guess..."

Turn 16 Tariq & D12

Biz sees the half-dead Odeon running up the hill, overjoyed he shouts "You made it brother! Get your ass up here!!"

Kuniva cheering on as well "They did it!!"

Tariq is observing Coochiemane "We should prepare to get outta here..."

Porter looks around "We need to head east, Odeon, you look bad, but do you think you can pull yourself together for some miles, so we can get away from this place?"

Eye-Kyu adds "I'm sure a commotion as noisiy as this fish thing won't go unnoticed, we better hurry up! Elori, Coochie, Barry, what's up down there?!"

Turn 16 Coochiemane

Coochiemane Dexterity Saving Throw (d20): 20 Critical Success

Several tentacles come directly at Coochiemane but he just keeps standing still, they miraculously fail to hit him with just some millimeters of space between.
Barry sees Coochiemane right next to him smirking "Get back..." he mumbles. With his right hand he reaches to the spot where his left hand is, near his waistline, both hands connect. The left-hand appears as if it is holding an invisible Swordsheath.

Coochiemane gets a serious look on his face, he stares the oncoming Octopus directly in it's eyes and mumbles "Die...". Right at the next moment his green aura rises up to the sky in an explosive fashion, he takes a swing with his right hand and as it leaves the connection with the left hand, it traces a glistening green burning rift in the air, flying directly at the Octopus.

Coochiemane takes 9 necrotic Damage from the spell taking a toll on him.

Barry sees Coochiemanes left arm being shred open by an unknown force as he performs his attack, it doesn't seem like a fatal wound, but it looks bad nevertheless.
Seconds later a bright green flash envelops the surroundings, as the green flames impact the Octopus. It tries to intefere by blocking with one of it's tentacles.

Octopus Dexterity Saving Throw: 1+1 Critical Fail!
Necrotic Damage Roll (6d10): 10+9+10+5+9+9=52

As the blinding light fades away everyone immediatly perceives the Octopus tentacle that it tried to parry Coochiemanes attack with being cleanly bursting apart into two pieces. Purple blood starts splashing out like a fountain from the now green glowing wounded part of it still attached to the octopus. The part which was cut off gets flung high into the air, whilest falling down you can see it shriveling up and drying out. It hits the floor right in front of Barry and Coochiemane, crumbling apart in the process.
Coochiemane wheezes, seemingly exhausted "Al... right... that was... harder than expected!"
Just moments later another gruesome scream can be heard coming fromt he Octopus, it swings around the sliced apart tentacle in pain, blood is being scattered all over the river and the surroundings. Its cries seem hurtful, almost like a whimmering.

Coochiemane looks back at Barry "What do you think, let's take a shot at this thing? Let me get another one of those in and we'll have a nice dinner this evening!"

Everyone who just witnessed Coochiemanes destructive power seems baffled, they are staring at him with open mouths.
Eye-Kyu shouting from the hill is the first one to get out of the shock. "That was craaaazy! Now get the f*** outta there!"

Coochiemane gives Barry a wink "What do you say?" he whispers "You're not a p****, are you?"

Everyone there's an opening to flee, decide on whether you want to leave the battle or keep on going. If you decide to flee tell me which direction you're going.

"Very glad to see yall again... What the f*** just happened..."

I look over to Porter.
"Sure... I'm all for moving... As long as we don't run..."

Slowly but surely I walk over to the group. While walking I Make loud wheezing sounds. When I arrive I start couching up water with my hands on my knees.

"Matter of fact..."

I get interrupted by more couching.

"...someone help me walk for a bit... I can't feel my legs yall. F***ing hell."

Then I hear the roar of the Kraken.
I silentely witness the situation of coochie, barry and the octopus.

"What... are they.."

I start couching violently again

Coochiemane looks back at Barry "What do you think, let's take a shot at this thing? Let me get another one of those in and we'll have a nice dinner this evening!"

"That was impressive and everything, but unless this thing can grow legs and chase us on land, I'm done with it. Everyone got away safely, I'm not wasting any more time or energy here."

Barry returns to the group to escape.

Coochiemane relaxes his stance after seeing Barry run off. He takes one last look at the Octopus writhing itself in pain and also proceeds to reunite with the group.

Biz walks over to Odeon to support him "Man than thing toyed with you..."
Eye-Kyu still observing the Octopus "Doesn't look like this thing is going to stop... look... it's trying to walk in the shallow waters but it's way slower than when it was swimming"
Kuniva comments "You know... I like them Godzilla movies, but I prefer not to fight it out with this beast in the middle of a city... let's make haste and get away."
Porter gives instructions "East it is then... let's continue..."
Tariq asks "Anyone able to patch Odeon up?"

The party begins to move away, while the Octopus is still recovering from Coochiemanes assault.

The sun begins to rise and the darkness around them slowly begins to disappear as they're fleeing. It's 7.00 am now.

Everyone heads south walking beneath a highway, a waste incineration plant can be seen to the west, there's some big letters on the faciliy spelling "Covanta Essex" (A), the air in the surroundings smells pretty badly. To the east you can see the Point-No-Point Harbor and a small power plant (B) also formerly run by "Essex" as the board at the entrance implies. After about 5 minutes you also spot a used car dealership a bit farther to the south east (C) some roads nearby are leading up to two bridges (D & E) on which one could traverse the Passaic River to head further east. Near the riverbank next to the southern bridge a tower of cargo containers can be seen from far away (F).

Kuniva sighs "Guess we're out of range of that thing now... can't hear anything trembling behind us... man... we would've been dead without y'all for sure...Thanks Fougere... Tariq... Barry... Elori... Odeon... and of course Coochie"

Biz acknowledges Coochiemanes actions "That flashy thing you did was cold fam!"

Coochiemane dirts off his shoulder and gives Biz a pretty arrogant look "Thanks thanks... but I would've prefered if we'd trashed this thing... but oh well... certain people just seem to be too scared..."

Porter ignoring Coochiemanes provocation looking at the state of the squad, seeing the condition Elori, Coochiemane and especially Odeon is in "Y'all think you heroes need a bit of rest? We could head to one of the structures nearby or... we continue towards the east and relax later, after we've crossed the river?"

Eye-Kyu adds "Mh... we're in the east of Newark now... after crossing the passaic river on one of those bridges we'll need to cross South Kearny... that's another mile... afterwards another bridge to get over the Hackensack river... and an additional 3 to 4 miles across Jersey until we get to the Liberty Harbor... If we don't run into any trouble... we could get to the bay today!"

"A bit of rest wouldn't go amiss, I'd be fine with travelling on but not everyone is on the same level at this point and we need to be at our best. Maybe we should check out one of the nearby areas? That Car dealership seems the most likely to be abandoned"
