eclassThe only one that is confused is you. They mentioned nothing about ownership and the issue isn’t about ownership. All they wanted to see is the books so they can confirm they are getting paid out the percentage they all agreed upon.
They saw the accounting and don't believe the numbers. Joe is using his money from other deals to pay them. He does not need to show them those books.

Rory and Mal think he misappropriated funds from the first spotify deal.Neither Mal or Rory think Joe was stealing from them, (which he said in the live, but then proceeded to still say they’re calling him a thief) they just wanted to know where the money is coming so everything is straight.
Joe in his eyes was being a good guy by “over paying” them allegedly, and is mad that they’re still asking for the books. He thinks because he allegedly over pays them he doesn’t have to abide by any contractual obligations

Joe claims the pod wasn’t make enough so he was paying them more than the pod could support but adding in his own money and earnings from other s***.

This is a dispute about pay and percentage. They don't believe the numbers as they started on their show. But they also say the don't care about contracts and pay.

How does this make sense ???? They are profit sharing partners getting paid off a %. They need to know how much is coming in to see how much they’re getting paid even if that means they are taking less than they normally do b/c there is no deal in place.
Also Joe never showed the accounting after they caught the $400k mistake.
It’s also not about money it’s about Joe being shady and not being willing enough to show them the accounting even though it’s stated in their contracts. All they wanted to do is to VERIFY their pay that they’re getting which should be a simple request if you’re not being shady.

Yes, both parties said they've seen the numbers. But roryvand mal don't believe the numbers based on an alleged error. Joe doesn't not have to prove his revenue from other sources tho which is where their pay is coming from according to Joe
Let's say you and I work together on a pod. And I'm paying you a commision based on earnings but the deals dry up so I use my supplementary income from my side gigs to keep paying you. If you ask to see those books I don't have to show you because that income is not pod related. I'm simply paying from my money.

I listened to all pods around this topic. I'm not saying Joe may not be pulling shady s***. I broke down all their claims which are over money. Both sides are contradicting themselves. But with emotion, anger and lies that's to be expected. As for being employees and having a hierarchy above Paris is standard. Rory and mal were basically managers, then parks as the engineer then all the other guys below.
Having a hierarchy is common. I'm a director at my company but I wouldn't say I own the business as it's a global company with a CEO and founders. I can also be fired at any time.
