New Patreon episode dropped, Joe sounding like he never had any respect for Rory lol damn.

Did he ever really sound like he did?

This is a shallow take. It’s clear to see they wanted different things out of the podcast.

Joe coming off of Spotify, and seeing what Joe Rogan, and Bill Simmons got changed what he wanted to get out of the pod. Add to that Charlamagne who he proclaims is the “Professor X to his Magneto” starting the Black Effect podcasting network. Within what 1-2 weeks of that announcement Joe starts saying “I am a network”, and does what seems to be hastily put together, rebrand, and roll out the JBN.

Rory has expressed having no passion in being a podcast network executive, or podcasting in general outside of the JBP. Mal pretty much the same thing. They could’ve done other things to grow the pod I agree, like handling Merch. Can’t fault either of them for not bringing in other brands potentially because Joe is so “anti ads”. Majority of the musical guest that come on are because of Rory & Mal’s relationships with them. The athlete guest are Mal’s connect. So they do bring value to the pod in a way that you can see, and in other ways I’m sure we’re not aware of.

Calling them lazy because they don’t wanna grow Joe’s podcasting network is ridiculous.

Why they even want to grow the network when they own no equity in it lol.

Nah that's not all that crazy

    It's Joe's YouTube channel.

    It's the Joe Budden Podcast

I'm sure there's some things behind the scenes that prove that they were overpaid / getting more than a fair share of the revenue from YouTube, Spotify, or wherever.

Also, it's not like they were inhibited from creating their own platforms, spinoffs, etc.

This is why I said that how Joe went about it is nasty, but he's not "wrong"

Well the channel revolves around the podcast. Which consists the three of them. They are creating a product together, which gives them a right for a cut. You see youtube collabs all the time. I'm 99% sure they split the money too. Also as far as making their own content I imagine it would have to be under Joe's network which would give him a cut of their work. I'm saying this cause Joe said they can't make a podcast for a yr otherwise they'll get sued. I think their contact was f***ed. Joe acting like a nasty suit, which is ironic.

If they weren't putting money into it (cameraman, engineer, editor,) why would they get a piece of the profit.
Thats like an actor demanding profits from a movie when they didn't invest anything to finance it.

In my opinion based on everything I think Rory & Mal are lazy & entitled. It has been clearly for a year they rocked up just because they had to and got a raise and still showed no extra effort. I believe Joe in saying that he had given them multiple opportunities expanding there brand but just seem to lazy and disinterested in podcasting but feel they deserve more off podcasting

I wouldn't call them lazy and entitled

There's nothing wrong with being workers and not expanding. Some people don't have that desire, and that's okay.

But them being on JOE BUDDEN'S PODCAST, on the JOE BUDDEN NETWORK, and then expecting raises or more money is a complete over evaluation of what they bring to the table and it appears that Mal and Rory completely misjudged this conundrum.

    Well,

they WERE getting a cut. It's not like they were working for free lol, they were getting their cut from the pod, from the tour, etc.

They were (apparently) thinking their cut wasn't enough, wasn't "fair" and essentially felt like Joe was cheating them which MAY be true but I doubt it.

It's THE JOE BUDDEN PODCAST ON THE JOE BUDDEN NETWORK. Joe is doing the heavy lifting and Mal and Rory did next to nothing to create some form of leverage on their behalf.
