yeah. i do prefer Jackson 5's versions of the Corporation songs to the Beatles' early cover songs tho
The Corporation is a fire name for a Motown songwriting group too
yeah that’s fair. early career beatles covers were nothing amazing.

shut up
shut up
beatles covering chuck berry, carl perkins, Barrett strong, etc was cool and all but it was definitely the least interesting stage of their career.
Black people generally will say MJ
White people generally will pick The Beatles
But for those of us who actually research, I'd say it's equal tbh. They are from different eras and their impressiveness is opposites. It's downright INSANE how the Beatles got 20 #1s in what like a decade? if that?
MJ was the opposite. He stretched out his projects and sold well every time.
The Beatles have longevity too tho. They're compilation album in 2000s was one of the best selling albums of the decade.
The Beatles did outsell tho. They sold over 400 million where MJ's around 350 mil. I think Elvis is either in between or right below MJ.
Replace graphs with charts and hoop with music

we all love the beatles but there's so many people who did those types of covers in those days. we only go back to them now cos we have that connection with the Beatles from their originals imo.
Just in the UK there were a few groups who could do those types of songs better. i'd rather here covers from anything Stevie Marriot was in or the Stones if we're going to go there.
It's really about the originals tho with those 60s British bands
the one who did the lady in my life
the one who did the lady in my life in 1982 album "thriller"

i meant the Thriller version.
cos Rod wrote it for MJ and with Quincy on production.
Idk if Rod or his band Heatwave did their own version

Beatles had their Motown and girl group and Little Richard covers (whom personally taught Paul to shriek proper in their infancy
Stones had Chuck and Bo and blues
Who had note for note James Brown renditions that were worthy
Animals might have been the best cover band with their renditions of Nina and other dust plus some fresh Brill jams. Wrote like none of their classics.
I can't think of any classic Small Faces covers tbh and i stan the s*** out of them. Their success was their own. Once Rod came in they started doing some of the best covers ever tho.
Beatles by far, cmon. Not even a contest.
They haven’t made an album in over 50 years and they’re still in the conversation.
Please stop comparing GOATs with that mid group full of whole milk lookin asses
george clinton
prince
sly stone

where do you rank stevie and curtis mayfield? they'd be high for me

tbh i was thinking of covers not just in that era but from artist who were popular then across their career. like the rolling stones love in vain cover isn't till towards the end of the 60s... and stevie marriot and rod both had classic covers in the 70s and 60s, solo, faces and humble pie and the other projects they were both in too.

i only really love a handful of songs by Stevie so id feel like a fraud even listing him (and ive done all his classics, just not for me)
Mayfield amazing but would kinda fall more under the softer motown type of soul stylings than fit into the lineage of hard ass funk gods (despite superfly)
you trying to prove his point?
this

"nothing amazing" lmao maybe you dont realize how little rock and roll there was in '63 but literally only Roy Orbison was left of the 50's guys
