nvm they made Wouldn't it be nice
how did it change your life
Changed my whole perception of what music could be, opened the doorway for me to a lot of the other psychedelic music of the 60s
oh boii
depends your mood, bbs has some surf, sixties pop, psychedelic, soul..
but uh, mm well pet sounds is maybe the most important album ever, the most influential so it goes without saying
that or sunflower for more seventies production
Listened to summer days, nice album
We need all the Adult/Child tracks in HQ
bro im telling you

like how can you leave out a composition like this?ugh, brian still had it and was experimenting new genres, wouldâve been goat run following love you, i canât find it but i remember an interview with dennis wilson who was praising it and hyping it up, kinda like he did for smile after pet sounds, he was so loyal and real, he was us
i found this tho
According to the band's manager Stan Loveâalso the younger brother of the Beach Boys' Mike Loveâwhen Mike heard the rough demo recordings of Adult/Child replete with big band swing arrangements, he turned to Brian and asked: "What the f*** are you doing?"
maybe this is why itâs still not commercialized, mike love is a curse....
Just got this for $25 shipped
bro no way! i feel like @Elric prolly has one of these?
dude i met one time a customer at work wearing a similar shirt to that AND a brian wilson gershwin hat! she said she went to la and met the dude who wrote all i wanna do, which was written by mike love so, she mustâve confused it with another song.. still surreal to met someone on your job casually namedropping that song tho
she said she saw him live on that smile tour too way back, so lucky
Changed my whole perception of what music could be, opened the doorway for me to a lot of the other psychedelic music of the 60s
i envy anyone who experience pet sounds for the first time, it shouldnât be a given, there wasnât and wonât be another album conducted like this.. it was a shooting star of genuis
lots of other albums from that era that are praised are great songwriting following a trend, the scene that was going on, but pet sounds, NOTHING set this up there is no album that sounded and sounds like that, and the songwriting and arrangement craft done by 20yo brian is out of this galaxy
youâre right it really opened up the spectrum of music and thereâs a part of me that always feel like today we are living in a alternative reality: the bad one, the one where unfortunately pet sounds was pushed aside for the samey hits of that time and smile canceled, i genuinely feel humanity missed the biggest switch of pop music that couldâve happen...

Listened to summer days, nice album
summer days is lately becoming one i really love but i reckon thereâs skippables, the highs are amazing tho! maybe try today! thatâs the most consistent pre pet sounds album that sets you up to pet sounds and is great through out the whole project
id recommend sunflower, youâll like both of these much more than summer days i can guarantee you that
@deepsleep i didnât think of the solo stuff, but i would make a priority to check out dennis wilsonâs pacific ocean blue, youâre gonna love it itâs very mellow (he the drummer also became singer songwriter who did little bird, be still, slip on through, forever)
Recently came to the conclusion that Sunflower is an overall better album than Surf's Up. For a long time I was team Surf's Up because Day in the Life of a Tree/Til I Die/Surf's Up was so insanely good, but Sunflower is so consistent. Virtually all of it is fantastic.

How was this album a commercial flop?
TEAM SUNFLOWER I BEEN SAYING YESSIR !!!!!! even if sunflower still has some bruce song im not a fan (i know lot of ktts seem to love tears but to me itâs too much of a adult contemporary type song, very granny safe type) ill take it over student any day!
if you switch up surfâs up track list with its leftovers it definitely reaches pet sounds, but as it is.. even the highs are more intense, sunflower is more consistent and thereâs just more brian written songs anyway!
this whole world always blows my mind there is so much happening in such little time, kinda their happiness is a warm gun in that context
imo i replace tears with good time, even that one was used for love you it donât make sense because love you puts my diane aside only to use that on the miu album even tho good time is a sunflower song in which they didnât change anything lol so you listen to love you with a rough 77 brian all along and then out the blue you get falsetto fresh young brian from 70 on good time, always came off odd to me lol
as for commercial flop, and the fatal one for brian, that is a mystery, a heartbreaking one... i guess 70 was too much into bluesy stuff and this album didnât click, too innocent and pure, back then scenes were moving fast, the bbs were always outsiders that why we appreciate it more today maybe in retrospective
i envy anyone who experience pet sounds for the first time, it shouldnât be a given, there wasnât and wonât be another album conducted like this.. it was a shooting star of genuis

Back when I was listening to pet sounds heavily I became obsessed with the smile sessions
I used to listen to them heaps wondering what couldâve been if Brian managed to complete the album properly as intended

a broken life
kinda genuis how in the movie they had two actors, not just for two different ages, but in a way because there was a brian before and after .. i wish brian stood up more to mike loves bullshit, he did âtil i die in 69, played with his fingers on the piano as if they were waves.. and just spit out the lyrics, after the first line came to him while he was at the beach staring at the ocean realizing how small he is... it was grandiose, a master of inspiration to the level of smile, but with a personal touch this time, he said itâs the most personal lyrics he did
but when he played it to mike, mike just shrugged, insensitive, i guess it wasnât the surf throwback he was hoping .. and so brian shelved that song, of course thankfully surfâs up the album happened, but that s*** happened too many times, a genuis compromised because of a worthless imbecile, thatâs the bigger tragedy
also our sweet love f***, what a song, a new god only knows... @Noir
Those vocals are majestic, something only peak Beach Boys could manage

this song just instantly takes me back to a spot nearby where i used to live back in france near a lake, picnic under a cool sun, outstanding mood, never fails... the soundtrack of spring day carl voice is something made with the touch of god in person
