thing is as creative and avant gardiste syd was and where pf was doing at that point and time was new it’s weird to put it on our with brian

brian was really inventing a new dna that’s only identifiable to him, not just some psychedelic scene - not to take away from that flex whatsoever

these are 60s psychedelic albums strictly, not f***ing boring ass late 70s prog

made an exception for Surfs Up cause i love the cover so much and its still a pretty trippy album

imagine hating on such a masterful opus like Animals

will never understand people who love WYWH but not Animals, to me they are similar enough musically where i just cant fathom someone fawning over SOYCD but not Dogs. other than lyrics i dont see it as a big departure in sound at all, compared to The Wall which was a big change. who knows it might even pass WYWH for my #2 one day...

wish you were here is part of the roger conceptual themed albums sure but it’s pretty eccentric with its synths that brings a nice extra layer and new sound to the band on going progressive landscape
