“I’m not the one they send to negotiate, but I am the one people talk to”

So this ended up flopping both commercially and critically
Nolan still goat tho!

use your words
how is an average score of 70 a critical flop lol? and most of us are literally quarantined. that paired with the fact the release was scuffed, the chances it was going to do well commercially were already low to begin with
probably my favorite score of a movie that has gone so perfectly with the movie ever
if that makes sense

70 on RT is low + B on cinemascore is low too.
Opening weekend was lower than expected even considering the pandemic. The numbers which include the screenings are on par with Unhinged despite opening in more theaters. So yes it flopped and thats a fact. The sooner they release this on digital, the better.
Word to mouth wasn’t strong enough for people to risk it.
How does Protagonist get far enough back to recruit Neil? They've been buddies for years? He's going to chill in a storage container for years?

maybe when you travel back you get younger??
Don’t understand much but wow what a ride. Also seems more concrete and thorough of a concept than his other movies, even tho i don’t get it quite yet

I just mean the logistics of it. He sat in a f***ing container for years? What turnstyle did they even have control of that far back?
just really do not like how open ended the manipulation of time was. I made this point in the Kaufman thread too, in tat movie it was to a much larger degree, but Nolan needed to tell us more just exactly how inversion worked. i think he left too much up to the viewers interpretation. idk man. bottom half of of Nolan's discography.
The lack of character development in the protagonist is on purpose. Throughout the movie he is going through the motions of a bigger plan set by himself in the future. The character developpment of the protaganist is in a future we don't get to see, but get to experience through the unfolding of the actions in the movie...

Im really not sure. The plot moved a little too conveniently, which is one of the things I didn’t like

I mean, what else do you do? There's no interesting characters or relationships. So where do you take a beat and sit for a minute? Do you draw out a scene of explaining the thing you're just about to show? Nolan tried to cram everything in and just run a quick pace over it and everything suffered. Lots of moments just feel like serendipity which kind of works for a movie about time manipulation. It still ruins immersion though.
You got a good link?
I need to rewatch
I don't have any lol
still looking tho
