Y’all niggas complaining about sound mixing.... NIGGA THE MOVIE WAS BAD!!! F*** the sound. Fix the damn movie first.
Ight it wasnt bad bad but what the f*** was that first hour into the movie??? Like the editing was alll wanky, so many damn meaningless cuts
“But the score bro” smh. I can’t with y’all pretentious movie heads.
I’ll probably watch it again. The intentional suspense scenes were great I’ll give it that, but like what the hell was the other s***?
The concept was new and very moving but execution was lackluster.

Can you be more specific?
Orchestra opening scene was dope as hell
Bungee up a building dope as hell
Kitchen fight swagged our dope as hell
Freeport dope as hell
honestly surprised it still has like a 7.9 on imdb. Nolan bump
not that it really matters that much - most of my favorites are between 6.5 and 7.3 on imdb....but like this has to be the worst movie Nolan made
went on a decently long drive to see this in a relatively empty imax theater, and i have positive to mixed feelings about the movie
on the positive end, the spectacle was great. the opera, freeport, car chase, and final battle scenes were very exciting. the concept of inversion and the whole movie/its individual scenes being a temporal pincer was super intriguing and i enjoyed wrapping my head around it. the score itself was energetic as f***, and made the action even more exhilarating.
however, i think nolans issues with writing were amplified here. id say roughly 80 percent of the dialogue was unintelligible exposition, which isnt helpful given how convoluted the actual plot is. the other 20 percent of the dialogue ranged from passable to borderline laughable. jdw's character was ok, but got outshined by rp in terms of likability and performance. i didnt really buy into the villain's motivation for ending the world either, and the domestic abuse aspect felt a bit forced to me.
overall, i believe nolan accomplished exactly what he aimed to do by creating an experimental take on a 007/mi movie. it was insane action/spectacle-wise, but lacked a proper emotional impact to top it off. personally, i still think the movie was fun despite my gripes with it, but i doubt anyone that doesnt already like nolan would like this. inception handles way better as a high concept espionage thriller. i do need to rewatch this and clarify the plot for myself in order to completely solidify my opinion tho
Just realized the title is probably a nod to George Tenet.
Nolan licking boots in broad daylight
thinking about that scene in the pentagon in the freeport .. and then the 2 antagonists appear.. damn .. and then wow... everytime they go back to the freeport is so goat

nice points, tend to agree
i think someone earlier itt wrote about the 'stakes' of the film being unrealistically huge as well
i dont think the movie had a lot of suspense because a) i was trying so hard to hear and understand everything and b) the set-pieces (e.g. the blown up/blown down building) had much impact or meaning
Not to sound pretentious but what is it exactly most people find super confusing about the movie?
For me I had to sit and think about the concept of inversion when The Protagonist inverts himself at/after the car chase sequence and puzzle that previous act together before it happened/happens. However, from that point I didn't find it hard to follow.
Just seen people posting multiple timelines that flows together and separates at different points of the story and I don't know what, there's pretty much only two flows of time operating simultaneous.

i could def see that, after the car chase i just ended up letting go of trying to figure out the minutiae of inversion while the scenes were occurring and instead went along for the ride. as long as i had the big picture mapped out in my head, i was able to enjoy the movie.
i think a 2nd viewing would be really beneficial for this movie, esp when trying to view it from an inverted perspective

for me i was pretty confused at the car chase and final battle. esp in the final battle, i was having trouble with figuring out neils timeline and what was happening from his perspective when he gets shot in the head
Anyone else listened to the soundtrack on its own? Masterful
ludwig snapped

There was 3 genuine moments where I couldn’t hear dialogue
1 scene in the opera
On the para sailing thingy
And one moment right before the car chase scene
Y’all will b**** about the most insignificant things lmao stfu
Setpieces and score was flames, acting wise no one really stood out but still good. Story was cool was kinda bored near the end. The whole red team blue team fight didn't do anything for me.
Also the arcades were closed so I couldn't play outrun 2 before the movie 0/10 f*** covid and f*** Michael Caine
Wait so Neil spent like the whole movie inverted? wouldn’t that mean he needed inverted food and water? does he piss backwards into his d***? does the s*** go back up in his ass?
