Yeah, Iol, this is good enough for me
I don’t think my reaction would be all that different in the theater
Watching out of curiosity more than anything

Its the best move . Its really an easter egg movie

I couldn’t think of a more perfect movie to celebrate the resurrection of Christ
OK. I watched it.
As predicted, I can’t co-sign this.
However, it’s easy to see where the disconnect is coming from.
I think the imagery in the Mario games is so ubiquitous, so imaginative, so iconic… There’s a natural thrill to seeing the mushroom kingdom, finally, in all its glory. In presenting that, the film does a pretty good job. It IS quite kino at points. If that’s all you’re looking for, you’re going to leave satisfied.
However. In every other respect, this is an Illumination movie. It’s filled with cliched dialogue, cliched music cues, paper-thin characters, and yes, the plot feels like a speed run.
It’s got about as much weight as standing on a cloud. I would have gotten just as much, if not more, out of it, if it were a twenty minute short.
The Super Mehrio Bros Movie is a corporate product. It does what’s asked of it, but, in my opinion, it takes something unique and homogenizes it.
When you do that to a 🍄, I lose my appetite. I’m feeling…![]()

Yeah. I felt too old for this.
If it makes people happy, cool.
It’s just not for me.

Considering this on its way to a billi might be better to get ahead and hop off now

Pixar, Dreamworks and others kind of blend humor better but who knows.
Movie looks kinda corny to me ngl. How is it
Just flat as a movie, and that should absolutely not be the case for something like an animated Mario film.
As others have said, kids will definitely like it though; the movie has everything they could enjoy.
Kind of wild seeing "next we need a.... film" when they could not even handle something like this.

It sort of fell into a trap of, everything is so silly, and such a joke, that there was never any stakes.
An eventual Smash movie should feel fun, yes, but it shouldn’t feel like fluff. It should feel epic.
This should feel like the new MCU.

the stakes was Mario father love and donkey kong dad love and BROOKLYN

There’s definitely room for improvement but I’m setting my expectations low considering the audiences are so positive with what was given and I’m unsure Universal/Nintendo will aim to appease critics next time around and rather stick to what worked the first time
