I'm saying, it's really empowering. I would not be the guy I am now if I didn't do the crazy "fuck it lets find out" type of traveling in my late teens and early 20s. S*** was foundational in turning me into who I am today.
That’s how you really stumble upon those life changing things too that seem to just “happen” I’m sure…with meeting new friends, beginning new ventures, a partner potentially…it’s addicting honestly & feels what life is all about
I remember my very first big solo trip. I went to NZ at 18 to a do a bicycle tour. 10 weeks. I was in Christchurch at the hostel and it was my first night and I just started crying. I had a real crisis of confidence, wondered what the f*** I was doing.
10 weeks, 1000 miles, and 700ug later I knew exactly what the f*** I was doing. No more games, playing around, etc. Felt like i landed on that island a boy and left a man
It makes sitting at home trying to figure life out when you’re so unsure of yourself seem so trivial I’m sure
Was mentally exhausted by the end of this trip but a few days later it feels weird being home & I’m looking forward to the next trip lol. Probably inner me wanting to see what this potential hitting for
Probably did bro, I spent so much time overthinking it lol. It’s common I’m sure for many people especially when it comes to a overseas decision, but glad I did it cause like I said previously, it really does aid in growth.
I spent almost a week in Asakusa which was nice cause it’s Tokyo but pretty out the way. Then Osaka for 4 days, then back to Tokyo at this spot called Sotetsu Fresa Inn. All my hostels were fine, but man was it nice to have my own space and peace and quiet by the end lol those crowds & business are no freaking joke
Yea it was this thread, just looked
ktt2.com/if-you-could-live-anywhere-where-would-it-be-32548200
F***in awesome that you did it man.
And yea Tokyo is crowded as f*** but i kinda like it.
You might like Europe cuz it seemed more spaced out when I was in Germany

rt makes you wonder why you ever sat around just thinking yourself into a malaise when you could just say f*** it and go live some s***
Back in Houston finding myself missing so many little things like the GOOD ASS food, cheap 7/11 food, vending machines every corner, just the very polite culture damn…
Amazing place to visit but unsure about living there though

I kinda feel the same way, certain aspects of Japan kinda hard to get used to.
But still

Yeah, for ex while every one was nice ASF it’s understandably hard to embed yourself within the people properly unless you speak the language. Saw what some people mean too on the Japanese generally being shy about their English

Was debating Kauai or the Big Island. Initially was going to do Honolulu cause the homie said Waikiki was fun, but then I read how packed & touristy it was. F that lol
Did you recommend any activities in particular by the way for Kauai?
Kauai is the move. I’ll get back to you with activities when I get near a computer.
It’s f***ing beautiful and all outdoors

100% feel you man, I spent two weeks there as well and have been back home 2 weeks now. I miss grabbing an amazing $7 bowl of ramen and getting some s*** from 7/11 on the way back to the hotel. Such a cool place where adventure seems like it's around every corner
