Made this previous thread after feeling hesitant to do it, but finally pulled the trigger.
Had a blast in Japan; my first solo overseas trip. Ironically, the trip barely felt 'solo' because it's deadass so damn easy to make friends at hostels - another thing I tried for the first time.
I met SO many people...Australians, people from Spain, Canada, Germany. And what's really fire about solo travel is you can dictate whatever tf you want to do...example: if I wanted to go to a attraction, but then leave early, I could do it rather than feel obligated to stay with company.
Overall, it was amazing. Only complaints are things which were my fault I'm sure like
1. Japan has to be one of the most POPULAR tourist spots ever because CROWDS were everywhere...also made the mistake of doing back to back cities for 2 weeks (Tokyo, Osaka) when there's more to Japan so that's on me but damn. By day 7, the crowds were deadass annoying & exhausting me visually.
2. Tried the whole minimalist packing thing; having only a backpack and carry on bag. While it worked at first and I saw the convenience, that s*** got ass when I ended up finding clothes I liked and had to haul this huge bag with me everywhere (I had multiple accommodations). It left me feeling I'd rather just take my backpack and big ass luggage because I don't like the feeling of feeling restricted packing wise if I see something I like when traveling. Def. learned to pack only my essentials clothing wise tho.
Been feeling lost career wise for a long time now, & was hoping to get clarity from the trip. But if anything, I feel it showed I should keep traveling while I have youth, time, and savings on my side before going ahead & applying for a regular career I suppose by the end of my travels (September maybe). Thinking something within Tech so far since I've heard there's many remote jobs you can get, and w/o coding or a degree, too.
tl;dr - Solo traveling super wavy, you meet many people easily & can dictate your pace. Do it!
Btw so many aussies made Australia seem like the move (free healthcare, oceans, easygoing community). I'd love to go, just gotta get over my fear of big ass spiders...

Oh I’m damn near sleeved up
Trust me bro, they’re passive people. At worst, you might peep someone looking. But even that felt rare, and I’m black lol

7 week solo europe trip #loading...
Hitting Italy in a few weeks too (Rome, Florence, Venice)
But ngl maybe it’s just cause how I went about my Japan trip, but 7 weeks sounds long asff. I kept going out checking stuff out almost everyday though & as I said faced lots of crowds so I’m sure you’re experience will be different
