need to read on fascism more, hard to find any concrete idea on what fascism due it being so flexible im prob gonna read The Menace of Hindu Fascism after im done my current book, crazy it was published in 1995, and we're really just starting to see the effects while the effects been felt under Indira Gandhi before so its nothing really new tbh.
An odd recommendation but Marx's 18th Brummaire is amazing, the process and conditions of Louis Napoleon's coup are very similar to the Fascist takeovers of the 20th century. Other than that I would recommend Fascism by David Renton, I dont agree with some of it but its overall a solid short book which packs a lot of useful information and theory. Theres also Parenti's classic Blackshirts and Reds of course. I've heard good things about Fascism and Dictatorship by Poulantzas but I havent read it myself yet.
My understanding of it as a process is a consolidation of power by a nationalist illiberal reactionary political movement during intense class struggle.
"There is a powerful reality in this country of ours, it is the masses. They have a magnificent history that is often ignored; but each time the masses speak up the land trembles, and each time the peasant masses rise-up the foundations of the old system rocks"
Finally getting around to reading a survey of the middle east.
Apparently the origin of the modern states comes from WW1 and the West wanting to beat Ottoman Turkey. They didn't have a lot of troops to actually do an offensive front so they funded a lot of nationalist uprisings (see the arab revolt 1916). The ethnic groups which they funded are still in power today (see Hashemites in Jordan, Saud family in Saudi Arabia)
