This movie never let its foot off the gas
Even though those lucki stans spoiled me, the ending still captivated me
I swear A24, Lucki and sLUms twitter merged in 2018
i think for me the biggest flaw was that adam sandler's character was so incredibly unlikable it was hard for me to connect with the film at all. in Good Time there's a genuine pathos to the main character that made me root for him and in Uncut Gems it was the complete opposite.
I feel the opposite. Howard was funny, Connie isn’t very likable at all.
Unless the character is super annoying or irritating, I could care less if the main character is unlikeable.
What other movies are similar to this?
Like continuous anxiety inducing
River (2015)
Victoria (2015)
Good time of course
yeah to me Uncut Gems is a vastly superior movie in every way to Good Time
its a far better execution of the Safdies' style. The score, cinematogaphy, acting is all better. But apart from that, the stressful crime aspects are better realized through its dialogue and editing. Howard is not sugar coated for being an obsessive gambling sociopath and thats what makes it so interesting to see someone who is so unlikeable as the main character because this is how someone would act if they were Howard. It makes Connie look tame in comparison.
Was rooting for Robs character in Good Time as well
Still need to peep Heaven Knows What

Yea i read its legit a biography of the main character who was a struggling heroin addict who the safdies found on the streets
Screenplay based on her memoir as well so i can see why its like a documentary
Sounds tragically beautiful

Thank you, will peep these
With the single redeeming quality being his love for his brother - which is also the driving force behind his actions in the film. The driving force behind Sandler's character is greed and the complete disregard for everyone else in his life. There doesn't even seem to be a moment of pause or contemplation on his part for how he's completely f***ed over everyone around him.
And maybe that is a parable for addiction and its destructive qualities. But I would have liked to see just a little more nuance. Then again that's just my opinion.
Fair take
I think they’re leveredging the Adam sandler cache with people more than that & he’s inherently likable to the gen that grew up w him that gems was aimed at

F*** u he likes dogs
Only for narcissistic reasons tho
Not my fault u weren't a dog in a previous life and they hate u
Robs charecter is much nastier than Adams
Exactly he sleeps with underage girl. Connie was a scumbag.
Yo what f*** just happened at the end
Hol up wasn’t that s*** like very predictable. Crazy ending still
