Still the only white dudes since ferrara & scorcese to accurately depict what nyc culture is really like in raw form while still making it feel like a huge cinematic Hollywood production.
This is really high in the list of most important movies of the 2000s imo. These guys brought back grimy 70s nyc cinema and revamped it.
And if you don’t think this movie had that level of impact, think of how many movies since then try to sell it to you based on the idea that people are saying “it’s like uncut gems meets…” they just automatically assume people hear it’s like gems and they’re gonna be sold instantly and they’re usually not even close to gems imo.
