What are they doing then? This seems like an attempt to cut fluff from HBO,save money and along the way, bring prestige back into the HBO brand

They want a focus on reality based, non-scripted television, that doesn't mean documentaries.

And they want what they deem to be "event" television/film. They don't care about quality, only viewership. If this same mentality was used during HBO's prime, shows like The Wire, Deadwood and The Leftovers wouldn't exist.

But i know there were some decent shows on Max,so i feel where people coming from. Its not surprising but it feels kinda outta nowhere for Discovery to pull this

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR TOKYO VICE SEASON 2 THO.

    Hopefully HBO just incorporates them…idk

There’s no reason to cancel a show like this. It’s one of those where it can literally just premier on HBOs channel easily

  • Aug 3, 2022

there's no way i've got to f***ing watch house of the dragon on Discovery+

  • Aug 3, 2022

wait are they literally just killing HBO max? huh????

  • Aug 3, 2022

is it wrong to assume hbo content could be bundled with a discovery+ sub or no more streaming service at all

So basically,HBO is going back to being HBO,less shows but very high quality and more of a focus on documentaries(which wouldn't be terrible cause HBO produces alot of great docs). Seems like HBO us cutting the fluff to tryband save money but also in an attempt to get the HBO brands prestige back

The HBO brand prestige is higher than its ever been though

They’re literally leading this upcoming Emmys in nominations by a wide margin

Cutting hbo max development staff by 70% and getting rid of the originals is effectively ending the service

Just read something confirming one app for everything WB and Discovery

I wonder if HBO will be included.. could be a W

You won’t have an HBO Max subscription because HBO Max won’t exist when this merger happens

It’ll be “Warner/Discovery Plus” or whatever they’ll call it and HBO will be a tab on the service, like how Cartoon Network is a tab on HBO Max now

Sounds like their strategy for HBO is go big or go home. If Leftovers was still on,i know they would've canceled that if thats their strategy. Game Of Throne Spinoffs it is (i hope Euphoria isn't affected by this)

So its definitely about saving a buck

  • Aug 3, 2022

This is eventually going to seep into regular HBO programming as well.

new ceo is on crack if he thinks im gonna tune into f***ing an app called discovery plus like that's not ten times worse of a name than HBO MAX

Lol you know you would. HBO gonna carry it which is why it's crazy they are rebranding it

Thank God Succession is ending soon because if it was starting out during all of this those stupid f***s would have definitely canceled it before it reached a third season

  • Aug 3, 2022

Having this happen was an awakening for me to purchase more albums n movies I frequently consume to avoid being unable to attain them if god forbid something even remotely similar happened like that .
