Rockstar was dropping more games back then . The budgets got much bigger . I just said the constant cycle of less games at much bigger budgets announced often way too early for shareholders is why many companies closed

I am saying the same sentiment as you but you’re saying I can’t say it or compare it . Yes leaks played a part . Wolverine got announced early too and then got leaked after announcement. GTA case the game just took so long it’s hard to know when it’s a year out

I think gta online so far very over gassed and online going to be filled with trolls so I’m more focused on single player . However I know their pockets are much more focused on online

How did Rockstar announce the game too early if it's an industry wide trend and we all knew another GTA would obviously drop? Plus the leak they were dealing with, they couldn't just stay silent until a year before release after that happened

You really can't compare GTA SA first trailer dropping 2 months before release because that entire game was developed in 2 years. These days the gap between announcement and release for the average game is longer than that. That's not a Rockstar or GTA thing, that's just the industry these days

Expecting Rockstar to announce GTA 6 only a year before release is unrealistic. Even IV was announced at E3 2 years before release, first trailer dropped a whole year before release. And that was almost 20 years ago

Don't do this when your comparison is from 22 years ago Nobody should explain why that's not a logical comparison if you understand how game development has changed since then and how that affects marketing

While I don't like it in the industry at large and think a lot of developers go OD with it, I don't think Rockstar announced VI too early and should've waited until a year before release. Imagine we got those leaks in Sept 2022 and Rockstar just didn't say anything about the game until late 2025
